One of my customers harvested 4 deer this past year.
He said that his freezer was bulging, so he brought me
some venison/cheese brats that he had made up.
He told me that they tasted great Grilled, or in an Iron
Skillet only! Of course I have a well seasoned one that is
over 55 years old!!
For some reason, sauteed onions cooked with venison
has a particular flavor, sweet and wonderfully aromatic!!
These brats brought back great memories of my childhood,
when my Grandma would flash fry some backstraps with
fried onions...Most likely in this same Iron Skillet!

FLARP! i'm first!
mmm, sounds yummy!
Not a dish my innards would tolerate, but you seem to like it. Enjoy!
marvelous. I have a skillet like that, have started using it more often as it's seasoned perfectly now.
i have skillet just like that, nothing beats cast iron
Mmmm looks yummy! I think onions, fried or not, are a great addition to lots of meals. The Iron Skillet..another love of mine.
Hope you are doing well Galen!
Four Fat Sausages Sizzling in the Pan
All of a sudden one went BANG
There were Three Fat Sausages Sizzling in the Pan
All of a sudden....
...you get the idea.
A well seasoned pan is worth it's weight in gold I think.
I've never eaten venison I just realised - I must remedy that!
Venison's not my favourite - though I once tasted muntjac deer and that was yummy. Don't really like the big guys though.
(I'll stick to beef and lamb I think)
Enjoy!
ah must be the german in me, love my brats.

Sounds so delicious! I love my iron skillets (have two). One is about 60 years old (inherited) and the other a relatively young one of only 30 :)
Apparently he doesn't need to take four deer if he can't use it all AND his freezer lacks sufficient space.
(But nothing like free venison, eh G-Man?)
Iron beats teflon like scissors beat paper every time. I like the venison jerky best, myself, but I wouldn't turn down what's in that skillet.
Oh, man - you're making me hungry. I wouldn't sell my ancient skillet for anything. Have you ever seen a new one>? They just look... wrong.
We eat LOTS of venison so I could smell that cooking while I read. :)
I haven't had venison in years! But, I use my cast iron skillet for everything.
Over 55 years? 55? ;) REALLY? Ironic!
love ya!
