Table for two please...One with a view.
A place to observe, the world passing by.
The ocean, the clouds...An evening sky.
If it's peaceful and cozy...That seat will do!

He's been here before, waiting for YOU.
He's hoping she'll show, he shrugs with a sigh.
Table for two please...One with a view.
A place to observe, the world passing by.

Why is he lonely? What goes askew?
Why do his lovers, pack up and fly?
Sometimes they leave without saying goodbye.
But sometimes they're thoughtful, they will bid him... Adieu!!
Table for ONE please...One with a view.
A place to observe...The world passing you by!!

Sometimes a guy just can't win...we can but watch as the world passes us by, but damn it, at least they gave us a nice seat for the viewing. Here's to the man - may the next not leave him, fluttering off in crooked flight...
C'est formidable! Great comment by Chris too. the whole time Ii was thinking wow what a romantic poem until it got close to the end. Also kudos for writing a Rondel. Nice
Glad to see you take a seat at the table with this rondel that makes me think of Bogart and Bergman, and all that long gone romantic tristesse. Epatant, mon ami.
I've always preferred a table for one... and always, always with a view!
Neatly done, G-Man. The scope of your writing always makes me grin.
How wonderful! A table for one isn't so bad.
Sometimes a table for one is just what one needs.:)
love the french language! :)
She's probably home writing a 55!
;-)
a bit tragic. i hope he finds someone to share the table who will appreciate the companionship.
Oh ho, I love it G! Look at you go taking up the rondel challenge. And it is such a pretty thing, your poem is. A melancholy note, but pleasing just the same.
Very nice rondel, I'm impressed! Mine isn't finished because my husband took me out for dinner and I couldn't finish it in time. But we didn't have that view... I will post mine next Monday. The poem I submitted is one of my worst ones... But my son makes up for it, I hope.
Très bon, mon ami, Galen!
awesome rondel! around my crazy house, I prefer a table for one sometimes :)
I liked it very much... Its quite powerful and your use of French was perfect...

Mon Ami-
Il est triste.
Une autre femme peut-être
This made me smile.. I thought I could join you at that table (haha) then I read that it's about him n her!
A very serene image- I almost saw myself sitting there n watching around, letting the world n time passing by..
Hugs xxx
Cool now get a copy of war and peace by Tolstoy and translate all the sentences he wrote and the translator left in french. A small favor is all I ask.
Nice rondell what is good about it Galen is you made the form find a function. Robert Frost would be proud of you for real dude. Sandburg not so much but Frost yes he'd love it.
A table for two is always nicer than a table for one.
That reminds me of the scene in Shirley Valentine where she sits at the water's edge and her husband turns up looking for her. :)
Nice poem G. x
G-Man! Getting your poet on, even breaking out with the French!
An impressive One Shot!
The world passing by is nice, but I want foooood if I am at table. ;-)
Excellent, G-Man!
I gotta try this form. Never wrote a Rondel....
Maybe I will do that on a table for two!
:D
the beast demands
Awwwww. Poor guy!
But that table has a hidden chair.
Sorry about playing hooky last weekend. I'll be back in fine shape for Friday.
...at least it is a table with a view....an awesome write G-man! :-)
I love it when the profound is so simply stated. A good read, a good write!
Fun, sorta sad simultaneously. Good stuff.
Very nice, G-Man. But where's the damn food? Great oen shot!
Nice One Shot G. Sometimes you need to enjoy your table for one before you are ready to share a table for two.
Whoooaaa!! I guess some guys like the view a bit more than they like their company :) Maybe that's why their company decides to bid them an adieu..
A lovely wistful read, G-Man... sad but very thought provoking!!
Here is my One Shot, maybe as an answer to this man's question!!
Aw, a sad one about love lost. Still, you've got a great view. She's probably in the subway fighting 5:55 o'clock (what time, you say?) crowds and smelling the exhaust.
That is a real good one G Man!
a bit late in comment (popped over as I've read about your 55)..saw the beautiful photo and had to read, what a fabulous rondel!
