i think they are really cool...but i would have no clue...went to friends house the other day and he had a replica...that was a record/cd player...was really cool
I adore that Zenith! This brought back some lovely memories of the days when Mum bought a shiny new transistor radio and I was allowed to take the old plug-in up to my bedroom. I loved the way it faded in as it warmed up and the soft glow from the dial where you tuned it in. Oh.... simple pleasures.
Where do you keep all of your vintage things? Where do you even get replacement tubes at? You may have to open a museum of some sort when you finally retire. People today hardly even remember half of the things yoou have shown.
The first picture reminded me of my Grand Mothers radio- it was quite curved though. My aunt had a small brown one also that lived in her kitchen as I recall- Thanks!
To tell the truth I don't like old radios. My husband on the other hand loves them. Just yesterday he put a replica of one in our recently remodeled bathroom. It looks awful, I think. But he likes it so...
Kelly and I have been listening to "Pink Emmerson Radio" lately by Kathleen Edwards. Great song! Haunting. It's about a fire, and the one thing she chooses to carry out is that radio. At least that's how I interpret the song! Kelly has a differing opinion.
But that's what's so great about living in a free country -- we can differ with each other and it's okay.

knowing how to is one thing.... finding the parts another. you've done well on both counts, it seems.

I really miss the individuality of things...all our gadgets these days have the same look. These radios have character, Galen!
