Bearded Splendor!
Noblest of the Pheasants
Sustenance of the Pilgrims
Usurped from your rightful pedestal
by the 'fish-stealing' eagle.
Whipping prospective mates into a Fan-Tailed Frenzy
with a cacauphony of Gobblety-Gook...
You alone are capable of sending over-indulgent humans
into Tryptophan Napland!
This Thursday we pay homage to you..Meleagris Gallopano.
We eagerly obey your Final Directive...Eat Me!!!!

If you have any short stories, poetry, or prose laying around.

This is what happens when we don't vote. Ben Franklin nominated the noble Turkey for national bird, only to lose by one vote.
Now Congress is filled with turkeys instead. :)
Have a great Thanksgiving!
I love over eating day. Turkey, football and friends. Enjoy.
...I'll be at work, but I so wish I could eat myself into a turkey coma :) Maybe I'll get some leftovers...Happy Thanksgiving!
I'll be enjoying my vegetarian Thanksgiving meal! Bet your turkey would like my Thanksgiving better! Truly, it is a great poem to honor the meal.
Mine is here. http://razzamadazzle.wordpress.com/2010/11/23/thankful/

Ha, ha. He's asking for it, fanning his tail like that.
Poor fellow. Almost makes me want to eat pizza for Thanksgiving.;)
And it tastes even better the next day - sliced on fresh bread with some stuffing - YUMMY!
Hope you and your family have a fabulous Thanksgiving, Galen!

the final directive, LOL. that's the best part.

I like your homage to Thursday's center of attention, G-Man. I'm with Talon on the day after feast. Add some cranberry sauce to that sandwich, and you've got a bit of heaven on a plate.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Ha - You always manage a great poem for OSW

Good one-! When I raise them at home, they get to a point where they follow
you around, try to block your path,
puff themselves up, turn blue- (and
chase you relentlessly...)Attention hogger's- "look at me!" I am usually
quite ready to pop them in the oven
by Thanksgiving- Enjoy your celebration, however you arrange it!
Eat me :D That was funny!
Have a great day and a great feast! :)
Great poem for a tasty season.
Wonderful One shot!
shifting with the winds
Still smiling at the last line, and wondering why turkeys have beards. I really think you could have worked some football in here too--like maybe "personal fowl??"
Enjoy your holiday, G-Man.
Not too much longer until visiting "Tryptophan Napland!" The turkey's directive.. lol Happy Thanksgiving, G!
I hope you enjoy your day.
Very cute poem, but I feel sorry for the poor turkey. (Of course, I'm vegetarian.)
TWO One Shots, G-Man?
Boy, for somebody who is supposedly 'on vacation' you're certainly a busy beaver!
Here's wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving G...:)
Ah the beautiful turkey. Happy Thanksgiving! I have to wait a month before I get my dose of tryptophan.
Happy Thanksgiving, Galen.
