The year was 1964...I was in 9th grade!
If you wanted to be 'cool', you owned a pair of Flagg Brothers "Roach Killers"!
If you really wanted to be cool, you put taps on the heels...
They could hear you comming down the hall a mile away!!
I still have mine...Of course!
And you only wore them with white socks...Of Course!!
Oddly enough, the taps saved the heels from wearing down.
See...? They still fit....
Hahahaha...look these up on E-Bay Vintage Clothing.
Noooooo! Pimp shoes?! And you're still wearing them? You truly are a packrat, G. And I thought I was bad with the shoes.:)
O For my bad luck! I lost on 'nother cool Yahtzee...
G, is the shoe show on? I'd better go & get mine too!
Oh, those are awesome, Galen. Way better than the Kaepas that were popular when I was in school. :D
Sprechen zee Dutsch? Haha! These remind me of Dutch shoes.
My friend's dad called these shoes PFC's (Puerto Rican Fence Climbers) because your toes can fit in the chain link fence easily when climbing them.
We used heel plates back in 5th-6th grade... You could go down a metal slide on your heels at Mach 2... Also sparked well at night against concrete sidewalks!
I love it! My Mother, just the other day was telling me a story about my Dad, and his shoes in high school. lol
These are the same ones she described!
Now he complains about the sound of her in her "flip-flops"
I have never seen those kinds of shoes, but I do remember penny loafers and saddle shoes
I bet you have a treasure trove around your house.
How have you been Galen? I have been busier than a one legged man at a butt kicking contest..hahaha!
Hope all is well!
I like vintage stuff ... shoes, wine, jewelry, movies, clothing, men.
How appropriate that the Queen of Fashion Footwear has knocked first!
Thanks for recognizing me as a Pimp-Daddy..
I'd like to see you in sandals...With bright red toes!! :-)
I sure hope that there are no Puerto Rican readers...
I don't want to get stabbed!!! hehehehe
That sounds so formal..
And I threw a few sparks in my day...G
Two weeks in a row?
I'm so glad that I can put a smile on your face!
I really love the hair...;-)
They still have those styles...
These are antique..hahaha
I've missed you...
I hope your son is feeling better...((HUG))
Back from camping??
I'll stop by...G
I've heard tell that your poetry blog is awesome...
We've all missed you very much...G :-))
and i know why they were called roach killers. so pointy you could back the damn bugs up into the corner and impale the suckers. i really can't believe some of the stuff you still have but i think i have my last pair of go=go boots around here somewhere. hahahaha.
Limey, you are absolutely right...
(something smells like Bleu Cheese)
Do you ever stop talking about feet?
