What if everyone gave up blogging for lent? It appears that some residents of Chicago already have. But could you do it? Could you give up this addiction? Lets see, shall we? I'll start.....
Jay, another Canadian? God I love Crown Royal. I usually keep a bottle in the freezer. OK...A freezer in the States, is what you call the windowsill... Thanks for visiting...G
G, you can not give up blogging for lent. Today is the start of lent (I go get a dirty forhead at lunch) and you already blogged so there. Think about something else.
I am terrible. I have brought computures with me to my Sisters house and to my vacation in Kentucky to I could keep up. I could cut down some but I do not think I could go away. Sorry
I was raised Catholic and sometimes darken the doors of a church during Christmas or Easter with my sisters, but I wouldn't classify myself as a practicing Catholic.
I think I'm doing the world a favor when I continue living as I always do. I hate denying myself ANYTHING.
Go to HellMart and cough up a few bucks for a new keyboard. I'll have to do that soon. My stupid home keyboard ROTS.
you do know that the comment a few minutes ago was a heads up....I waited a good 5 mins before going over to you know who's.......if you know who beats you again are you gonna be sad?
No way no how! I love blogging even if I just ramble to myself! and you explained the window sill but explain crown royal. What is it? Beer? Pop? a new fangled drink? Yep I know silly woman!
i'm really not all that lovely, as some might attest to, but i thank you for your warm and gentlemanly hosting skills... is Crown Royal the stuff that used to be wrapped in a navy blue felt bag with yellow script writing on it? ha! i think my Polish grandpa used to enjoy that, cuz i distinctly recall those bags, plus the funny stubby shape of that bottle and its oversized rather "regal" looking screwtop...what an odd childhood memory for a non drinker...
Breazy!! GET CABLE...I'm dyin here without my little Vol...
Jildo, yes I would not be happy at all. I'd miss everyone way too much.
The View? TC, you must be a Saint! How could you possibly give that shit up?
JavaJazz, beauty comes from within. I can attest that you are lovely. Don't argue with the G-Man. I really miss Pea-Meal Bacon. Butter Tarts And Molson's Golden ( the Canadian stuff, not the imported crap!)
fine, i wont argue with mr. G, especially after reading the title of your blog, though i'm not quite sure how you can tell that my "within" is so lovely...perhaps your intuitive skills are top notch and you hide your outside gifts behind your everyday cover as some humans choose to do....in any case, ever thanks...!
wow, maybe you were part canadian in another lifetime, or something...pea-meal bacon, butter tarts and Molsons Golden? what, no maple syrup?
when my son brought his fellow bandmates to town to play here, we were buying Rickards Red by the truckload...for some reason that became their canadian beer of choice, tho the Bostonian in the band still liked his Samuel Adams, in between Rickards...
thankfully we're known for something of value here, other than our self effacement and excessive politeness...(cough, sputter...)
OH Canada, is ringing in my ears right now! Are you NOT as lovely as you seem? Rickards Red? I Must try that one now. Samuel Adams is a bit strong and heavy to suit me.. You must like Music and coffee?? JavaJazz!!!
well, i wish i could say the Star Spangled Banner was blasting away in my brain, but, wait...oh no!
actually, turns out i am a dual citizen of ohcanada and the US, and my maternal grandpa was a 100% new yorker, actually born there! shocking. no one is ever from new york... i dont know how to answer the "are you not as lovely as you seem" question...never been good at self advertising, and also, everyone perceives things as they need to, so my perception of what lovely is, and other people's, would most decidedly be different. besides, my idea of what i think is lovely on this earth seems to differ greatly from other people's ideas...
now, back to beer...ya, the kids all loved Rickards...but they couldnt find it in the States...i'm not a beer gal, so i dont know...my son would know. he even makes Mr. Beer in his dorm room! (shhh!!) i think it may be an essential part of his jazz studies, not sure...
i like some music, its so very much a part of my soul, cant help it...used to be a jazz musician myself, now i play some weirdo new age improv stuff with a couple of old hippies. i love coffee almost more than chocolate, but someone bestowed that name upon me years ago and i quite love it...
"even" TC and Barman? ha! why, i had already picked them as 2 of my favourites! (i'm not shittin' you!!) oops, i reverted back to canadian spelling.... i was doing pretty good eliminating the u... favorites...there...!
when my kid came home from california in january for winter break, and the other 4 american kids he studies with flew up here for the gig they played, he went to pick them up at the airport, and when he didnt come right back home, i freaked, and called him and he said, "we just had to stop at Tim's for lunch." funny.
Ameritis, I forgot you like to play. But sometimes our age difference may make things a bit uneven. I'm not familiar with stuff by Irish Punk Bands. But keep trying, I may get one. I do have a 20 yr old and a 17 yr old...G
JavaJazz, you will find that I don't have to be here to visit and to comment, and to meet great people. I really love all of my blogging friends. They are a great source of comfort and fun. Galen's chat room is always open.. Tim Horton's Rocks!!
TC,...Flogging Mollies!
Because Jenny my love, maybe you have to be drunk to visit me. I'm pretty tough to take. xx
well its kind of you to be so welcoming, G, whether you are here or not, to host a place that is warm and friendly to all...tho i must say i am often attracted to places because of certain people's energy or a quality they emanate that i am pulled towards, just as i can also be repelled by negative or destructive energy...obviously your kindness will attract the same in your visitors...so that must make you somewhat "lovely" yourself!! (or whatever the male equivalent of lovely, is!)
and TC, yes, there sure are all kinds of music and musicians, from the good to the bad to the you know the rest...! i believe i've heard all of those kinds too! funny, my son has the opportunity to hang out and perform with some very well known jazz musicians, even lots of old guys, and he's noticed that the more talented and famous they are, it seems the nicer and more relaxed and kind they are! they do just get better and nicer with age, not all competitive and weird. its rather inspiring!
Well that's gotta suck! Finding out they have bad credit after all of that...hmmmm...well, you just hop into the backseat here and I'll make you feel better.
I'd buy a car from you but it would cost too much to pay the CA fee's. Besides...I'm still good on my wheels...
Beer? Are we talking about beer now? Damn...I need one and baaaad!
wow, thats very cool. playing is one thing, writing, well thats a whole nuther thang...not only music but poetry and stories too? i admire that...i wish i could be organized enough to write... like stories and maybe tunes with lyrics... man, i can barely read music, so i found it really hard to write it...when i was really young i wrote about 20 jazz tunes, but all instrumental, not word stuff...now, it seems way too difficult...brain's all foggy. maybe writing makes more writing easier... Renaissance man....that's hard to spell...and G, that aint the first french word y'all have spelled, i noticed...
that's sweet. it all sounds so much better in french, non? its unusual, i find, for americans to be familiar with french... not only pronunciation, but spelling too...perhaps it is in your family background...?
G-man you rock! Floggin' Mollies it is! Though don't let age fool you, I have an eclectic taste in music that ranges from Gregorian chant to Irish Punk Rock. :)
I saw them a few years back at the H.O.B. and they fucking rocked. For the longest time I had a REALLY way cool Flogging Molly patch on my backpack.
But, when I broke-up with the boy I went to that show with (even tough it was there before I even met him,) I took it off and replaced it with a patch of two naked chicks smokin' doobies that says, 'Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll.'
And I have not given up blogging. I will never give-up blogging. I just take breaks. Either self-imposed or nonself-imposed. This time it was due to my computer not picking up a wifi signal and due to getting used to my new work schedule. And due to...actually leaving my apartment a little more.
It's a good thing.
You, however, were VERY much missed though, Galen, luv.

Sometimes I accidentally give up blogging when I spill crown royal on my laptop. Does that count?
LIME!! Stop tempting me!

Not giving up blogging.......yet.
Suddenly, I want alcohol. Why does that happen when I'm here?
javajazz..just as in music there is good and bad,its the same way with musicians.
The great great one's only got better with age.:)
signgurl..maybe that's because of all the alcohol still on the floor over here.
back to you G.....
Ameritis, I forgot you like to play. But sometimes our age difference may make things a bit uneven. I'm not familiar with stuff by Irish Punk Bands. But keep trying, I may get one. I do have a 20 yr old and a 17 yr old...G
