Retro Wednesday.......

This is my microscope I got for Christmas of 1960.
It has a little mirror underneath the slide bracket and you reflct the light you need to see things.
The last time I actually used it is when the cat had fleas, and I wanted to see one close up..
Yikes!!!...Are those little bastards ever ugly!!!
The last pic is a vial of shrimp eggs. You used to be able to just add water, and they would hatch after a few days. I wonder if they would still hatch after 48 years?..hahahaha
.
Sorry about the picture quality...Low-Tech you know.
.
Peace.!!!

so if you got the shrimp eggs with the microscope they were shrimp eggs. if you got them with a castle off the back of a comic book they were sea monkeys?

you've got a real museum there, gman

I had me a microscope when growing up, the key word being had. I had fun with it but I can not say I looked at a flea. That would have been interesting. Maybe you can use it to look at the dinosaur (shrimp) eggs.

So did the sea monkeys that Lime talks about actually have crowns too? I remember seeing them in magazines too.

Cool! I had a microscope when I was a kid, but I don't remember mine being that nice.

I think Lime's right -- if you hatch those eggs, you'll get sea monkeys.:-)

Fleas? YUK they're bad enough without seeing them close up! :(

Wow, you keep some of the coolest stuff, Galen. I had a microscope when I was young, but it didn't fare as well as yours, lol.

I remember ordering my first Sea Monkey kit from the back of a comic book when I was a preteen. I was sorely dissappointed. :D

My little brother had one of those. Got it from Santa one Christmas. I don't remember what all we looked at under it. I remember looking at hair, though. We were dull children.

` Yeah! Rehydrate the crustaceans! Cool microscope! You can still use it to check your sperm count, right?
