Friday Flash 55.....

.........................The 9ths Premiere.........................

Years in the making. THIS was Ludwig's Masterpiece.
He hadn't conducted on stage in 12 years, and was petrified!
Upon completion, he sank to the podium sobbing. The silence
meant that Vienna hated it.
Suddenly, his Contralto walked over and turned him around.
The audience was jubilant!
He couldn't hear the cheers.....

He could hear the music in his head. Sorta like a nagging spouse!
I remember this anecdote from my Sophomore  Music Appreciation class.
If you or anyone you know is conductive, or has written a Friday Flash 55
Please come tell The G-Man
I will visit, read, appreciate, comment....Then BOOK!
So from the most Joyous host from coast to coast
Have a Kick Ass Week-End!!!
( Hmmmm...This is my 2nd Ode to Joy this year...hehehehe)

I really like your musical genius 55! I love Beethoven, and it's hard to imagine someone doing that with a hearing impairment.

Mine is HERE.

I remember hearing (sorry, Ludwig)this same tale from my music teacher, Mr. Morgan, in Grade 12. Imagine creating something you only ever hear in your head? Truly remarkable. Loved it, Galen!

I welcome all Odes to Joy, and this one was an anecdote I hadn't heard--probably because I was in the dorky Creative Writing class, instead of the dorky Music Appreciation class. Like Talon, I find it amazing that the man could write what he wrote, yet never hear it.Loved your educational 55, G.

This is really interesting! I hadn't known about all that.

I set out to write you a 55 this evening, but once I got started, it decided to be a longer poem. Sowwy, G Man! You know I love ya anyway!

A roaring in his ears when he first started becoming deaf... he thought of suicide! Thank God he found the strength to continue creating his music. NICE and sweet 55 this week!

Beethoven's ability to continue creating genius music in spite of his disability is enough to inspire anyone, I would think!

Here's mine. A little less creative, but a work of art in its own way: Dessert for One

You know, after the beautiful tribute poem by Razzamadazzle and your interesting thoughts on Beethoven, I don't feel right about sharing the silly business I wrote. One of the Netherworld crew will be by next week.
Peace!

That story has always touched my heart so. I think I may have learned about it in Music Appreciation class also! My appreciation for this most beautiful of all your 55s is shown now..... with a silent bow.

Well, we all Made it to Friday

The music in your head is what it's all about. Music in your head means music in your heart. Good one G-Man.

Hey Galen, your inspirational 55 was music to my ears. I am very tired though and trying to take a little break from blogging--so don't know whether I'll play. On other hand day is early. K. ,

This is Manicddaily http://Manicddaily.wordpress.com. Blogger is making me use old ID. K.

My music appreciation instructor forgot to share this little gem ~~ or, maybe I forgot! After 32 poems in April, I am all tapped out! Must wait for muse to reappear.
