Retro One Shot.......

.

.

Oh perfect piece of pottery
Harbinger of joyous celebration
You're empty now.....
But it wasn't always such!!
Your belly once brimmed with sugary delights.
Grandma's Recipe's
Mom's Loving Labor
Holiday Nirvana
After School Favors.
For years now you've waited in eager silence...
For another batch of memories.
.

.
Hi everybody.
Since Mom and Grandma are long since gone.
And My kids are grown.
And I have no grandchildren yet....
The old Cookie Jar has been tucked away in the far reaches of the house unused in years.
It used to be the center of endless Family Fun and Togetherness.
But now the house feels so empty.
Just like the Cookie Jar....

No need to save it for a special ocassion, fill it up and use it every day...even if just for you. You'll savor the memories along with your treats, and probably make new ones without even noticing.

You should fill it with cookies and put it back in service! I think it wants to feel needed, and then it won't feel so lonely.:)

Amazing what a cookie jar can call to mind. Can't forget the one we had growing up. Nice poem G!

I love old crocks! Very cool. Maybe you could fill it with old photos to pull out for a treat every now and then to put those smiles back on your face...

It's retro, all right. But I grew up with retro pottery just like that. And the poem unleashes all those memories. Nice one.

My grandma's cookie jar was in the shape of a cat. The head was the lid (sounds kinda gross the way I described it). Anyway, I don't remember her ever baking cookies. They were probably Chips Ahoy. The point of this rambling? Don't let that beauiful jar go to waste.

I think that cookie jar is gonna be serving up batch after batch of memories all over again for new generations...it's just waiting very patiently. I smiled at "after school favors" - I think that's the best use of cookie jars :)

Wow, G-man what a memory you have!
(you're a real blog-hog, you know?)
I whine and whine about no time,
but there your are,
here for all.....thanks,
I'm never lonely with my blog friends around.
Someday a poem will come when my muse gets on her toes again....
Thanks again,
you need more chocolate chips in your jar...

I dearly love the memories you can evoke in me. Love your cookie jar. Too bad it's in storage at the moment. Hopefully it will come back out before too long.

Well.. bring out the jar! Put the goodies back in it... there's no point in making it wait! Don't let it feel so lonely.. Serve it the way it served you...

A lovely poem...it was sad and reminded me of my sweet grandmom... so now, me goes to my kitchen, opens my cookie jar, and pops in a few! Okay, they are store baked ones...but it's alright I guess...

My one shot will be found here...

Makes me want to go bake some cookies. It's amazing how something so simple can really bond a family together.
