Elementary......
I LOVE Turner Classic Movie Channel!
This week-end they played several episodes of the classic Sherlock Holmes starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. And the best thing is that there is no commercials!!
But being a product of his times, my 20 year old son Reese, hates black and white movies, and refused to watch them with me.
But today he wanted to see the version at the theater starring Robert Downey and Jude Law, so old dad took him! I gotta admit I liked it a lot in spite of the fact that it was directed by Guy Ritchie.
And the ending certainly indicated that was a sequel in the future.
Coming home to some Home-Made bean soup made with a spiral sliced ham bone was Great!
I hope you all survived Christmas, and now we have New Years Week-End to contend with next.
I hope 2009 was a good year for everyone, here's hoping 2010 will be as better!
Peace...!!!

I love TCM, too. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Sounds like some good bonding time with your boy.
Am I first? Wow. Happy Sunday, G-man.
I have been having some great bonding expereinces with my son over interesting foreign movies. I love it.
I am 44 and I am not a huge fan of black and white movies. There are a few that I love, but not many.
nice. i cant wait to see this movie! love me some good b&w as well...
hahahaha, i plan to make ham bone soup and see the movie with my girls tomorrow.
Black and white movies don't do much for me...I can't seem to get past the closed captioning on them...but in those days, they didn't even know what that word meant ROFLMAO!!! You don't like Guy Ritchie? hmmm You must not like Madonna is all I can figure. Oh well. Glad you had a great 2009 and I hope 2010 brings you much happiness and joy :)
G-Man, must you torture me with descriptions of your tasty homemade food? :) The new movie looks great. As for Guy Ritchie, I think Madonna runied him for me. I'll have to look at him with new eyes.
Good lord, G-man! ;-)
Sounds like you enjoyed a nice, relaxing Sunday -- just what you needed.:)
I love the TCM! Oh yes! We had spiral sliced ham too! Our bonding is over Christmas movies (National Lampoon)...
I like the old classic movies too. I live with a movie freak, unfortunately he´s not that into the classics so I rarely see them.
I am a fan of Sherlock Holmes... But I find it hard to see Jude LAw As Watson...Now of course I won't miss it. Thanks for the recommendation G MAN
I do hope that because of the kids reluctance to watch old black and white that he bought the tickets to the modern color version.
You did after all feed him when you guys got home.
my bean's the same, if it's black and white he doesn't watch it. and yes, i blinked and christmas was over... how did that happen???
My six year old daughter is fascinated with black and white shows. She once asked me, "didn't you have colors when you were a kid?"
about the only b & w i enjoy is the original Christmas Carol. i haven't watched it though in a few years.
i sure hope you had a wonderful holiday and here's an early toast for a better 2010!
smiles,
I love old B&W films but live theatre is good!
If it's not too personal a questions m'dear how's your bum? ;)
Hi G...hope you had a great xmas...I was out of town so no posts for awhile...but, I did get to catch a small bit of Sherlock on TCM this past weekend. I don't mind a B&W sometimes.
I can't wait to go see this movie. I love Robert Downey JR. and Judd Law, ain't so bad either!! Good eye candy for me...:D
I'm stuck at work for 3days with not much to do and I'm not too happy. ;( Assholes wouldn't let me use my sick leave...I need a new job in 2010!
..look forward to a big booze fest and great food on New Years!
Wishing you the best in 2010!
Are we on the same wavelength?!
Love TCM and my favorite SH movies are with Basil too. My guy loves the Masterpiece Theatre SH's, but I'm not that classy! More like Judy Holliday here! ;) "Pftttt" with Jack Lemmon and Judy Holliday was on TCM yesterday! Did you see it? Hilarious!
And tomorrow, I'll be taking my niece to see Sherlock Holmes, her first taste of him! And what a slanted version indeed. But I'm looking forward to it!
Wishing you and your loved ones a healthy, prosperous, and happy New Year, Galen! :))
The Brits have pronunciations of English words that are damn near impossible to understand.. Sad day when Great Britain's movies need sub-titles!
