Retro-Wednesday.....

When I was growing up in the 50's, we could go to the corner store and get a marvelous little treat that we all called 'Nut Chews'. The cost was 2 for a penny!!
Although this tasty treat had been around since the 20's, the original company fell on hard times. They are now produced as a 'Retro Candy' by the Necco Co.
I found some this week-end in a quaint little country market when I was on R & R. The cost I believe was 2.49 a pound! A tad more than 2 for a penny...But just as I remembered.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
Peace...!!!

I remember lots of 2-for-a-penny candies from childhood but ... not that one. Cute wrapper, though. Enjoy!:-)

ok, this will sound weird but i only knew of squirrel nut zippers as a swing band. i assume the band was named for the candy.

what fun though. i am glad you got to enjoy a favorite retro treat and savor some memories in the process.

I've never had those. Do you remember Chunky candy bars? I love those things, but you can't find those anymore!

That reminds me of a Mary Jane. I am just a few years younger and candy was a little more expensive. I believe it was penny candy when I was growing up. I must say however I do not remember that particular candy. I guess I was just deprived growing up.

Ah Necco, the maker of the candy hearts amoung other things.

My favorite candy was the Sugar Daddy. I'll be marring one soon. *smirk*
