I Found My Thrill..........

Hi Everybody!! I trust you all had a marvelous week-end...I did!! And since we are all still basking in the afterglow of a perfect Spring Day, I thought I would provide some Musical Memories ......for Musical Monday!!
It's funny how certain bits of Americana, play such a roll in our lives and our recollections of a happier and less stressful time. I'm going to give the opening lines of some classic tunes, these are so very easy, that this is not a quiz! These are just songs that have been played so much over the course of our lives, that they will instantly transport us to a different time and place.....

1. " Trailer for sale or rent"

2. "Memories light the corners of my mind"

3. " There she was just a walkin down the street"

4. " The purpose of a man is to....love a woman"

5. " All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go"

6. " 73 men sailed up, from the San Francisco Bay"

7. " It's getting to the point...where I'm no fun anymore"

8. " You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain"

9. " Go away from my window, leave at your own chosen speed"

10. " I'm getting bugged driving up and down the same old strip"

11. " Slow down, you move too fast, you gotta make the morning last"

12. " Well it's one for the money, two for the show"

13. "Flew in from Miami Beach BOAC, didn't get to sleep last night"

14. " There is a house in New Orleans"

15. " Left your motor runnin......Head out on the highway".............

You may never think of these songs at all......Till you hear the opening lines!
Have a great week.....Thanks for visiting ole G-Man..... Peace!!

OK so I must have lived a sheltered life or something. There are a couple that just do not ring a bell at all. Most of them, however, I right away have the song playing away in my head by just reading the single line. Isn't that amazing.

By the way I had to look up #15. What I see says Get your motor runnin instead of left. It only matters because it was driving me crazy when I say the line you printed. Now that gives me an idea for a post later in the week.

You have a great week too G-man.

those lines do sound great although I havent heard the songs themselves..or maybe I have and the tune just sank in, not the words...

& I am humming careless whispers right now...

Very nice, nothing like fine tunes to get a good mood happening Galen :)

Mona, Careless Whisper is a great tune, but it's no "King of the Road"!

This is a lot of fun, galen.
I heard the songs as I read them, you're so right about how they become part of our consciousness.

Good morning Galen :)

The song that's been in my head for weeks now that it's attempting to get warmer here is:
"In the summertime when the weather is fine, you can reach right up and touch the sky..."

That's always been my favorite song of that era. :)

Have a happy monday!

No, I didn't do any betting. If I did I would have lost as I mostly try and pick the winner and I would not have picked that pony.

Tree', I'm glad you liked this silly stuff.

Trée said...

G-man, the silly stuff is what keeps me sane, although with all my travel (business) of late, leaving on a jet plane is taking on a whole new meaning.

snowelf said...

Galen, you are cracking me up about the pic!! :P Thank you. :)

And I think that's right. Mungo Jerry. I just know it's my brother and I's favorite song.
