Friday Flash 55.....
Sitting alone with the Christmas Tree never fails to bring about the onset of Melancholia.
A 75 year old hand me down ornament that was my Grandma's. A Santa Stocking with
an angora beard that my Mom knitted. Memories of loved ones no longer here....
But, they are good memories. And in the end, what more could you ask for?
Yeah, once again it's just me and Reese home alone for Christmas. Maybe some day
there will be the laughter and chatter of happy children opening presents, but until that
day comes, I guess we'll just have a little Christmas Cheer, and be glad we have two
days off mid-week.
If you or anyone you know has written a Friday Flash 55
Please come tell The G-Man
I will visit, read, enjoy, comment.....Then BOOK!
So from the most melancholy host from coast to coast
Have a Kick Ass Week-End and Christmas.
Happy Holidays Everyone!!!!!

Sending some cheer your way, G-Man! Merry Christmas from the state next door:
Here it is for the G-Man: The Perfect Gift.
I do know what you mean. Even though I'll have a lot of family around, there aren't any little ones. Nothing like having kids around at Christmas time. Hope you guys have a great Christmas!
Mine is HERE.
cowabunga!
Good memories, too, G-Man. Being divorced, Christmas is now a bit bitter-sweet. But, at least I can sleep in. Cheers to you, Galen. ~ Michael
Merry Christmas Galen!
Hello G-Man. Here is my 55 for this week: Parents' Evening.
I just purchased SIX airline tickets and my children will be flying your way Christmas eve and John and I will sit by the fire, listening to the silence while we warm our toes and toast to the new year! ;P
I have a very unChristmasy 55 (blame it on Magpie Tales - although how I didn't reminisce about past winters I have NO idea - the creative mind just goes where it must… ;P
Amour
… did I fail to mention it is six one-way tickets? ha ha
Be glad the Kardashians won't be stopping by!
Mine is up. I really milked it this time.

Every celebration is marked by a twinge of sadness. Have a good merry time... it may make everything seem cheerful. :-)

Galen, that is the bittersweet tucked inside this season. But we do have those reminders, those precious memories, that no one can take away. And Reese is lucky to have you to share his Christmas with (and vice versa, of course).
My 55: Secrets of the Universe
I completely relate, G.But it *is* about the memories, and the good times, and while you're still alive to enjoy 'em you better do it any way you can, I say.
I apparently can't be serious today, so I'm playin, with a little self-satire:
B-loggorhea
will be by to visit and wish everyone a Happy Bah Humbug tomorrow.
I spend Christmas alone every year!
I know it can be depressing sometimes.
I have no solutions, other than to hug pets and eat chocolate.
(Don't kiss pets after eating chocolate, though, or you'll spend forever picking fur off your lips.)
Er... or so I hear.
Have a good week, a good weekend, and a good rest-of-the-year.
And... Thanks for another Friday 55!
Mine's here. :)
the good memories are worth it...for the times we had...while we had them...every ornament tells a story you know...
be back after the first of the year...i am taking 3 weeks off of linking anywhere, to get back to my roots....
Still seems a bit sad to me. Personally, I'm going home, and dragging my kids with me, even if it snows. But I'll be around for FF55!

My inner cynic says at least memories don't disappoint or give you useless crap you don't dare throw away. And you always have your friends out here on the interwebs!
Over here, we're considering our Holiday Attire
Merry Christmas!
Happy holidays to all!
Here's my 55.

Yes, Christmas so often a time of bitter-sweet remembering. Here's mine
G, your 55 speaks exactly to why I have yet to bring out the boxes of ornaments to decorate the tree that my husband set up with lights three weeks ago. I just have not been sure I could handle the emotions.....but I do think I will decorate it tomorrow because you have reminded me that those memories can be so sweet. Thanks, and thinking of you this week.

I think melancholia would be a good feeling if you are remembering the good of them you have known and lost. Much better than my GRIZZLY ATTITUDE about it all.
I even included a recipe for you but not in the word count.
I just posted Christmas Eve Discovery
I always feel the same way when I sit by the Christmas tree. I hope that you and Reese have a marvelous Christmas.
I hate Christmas.
The Feast of the Nativity of Jesus Christ is wonderful. But Christmas sucks.
I won't climb out of my shit mood til December 26.
I did try this year to be cheerful. I did try.
Mine isn't fiction either. But it is 55 words.
This is my family's third holiday without my dad. But the holidays have actually been kind of bittersweet since I was 11 years old. My paternal grandfather died on January 2. We were taking the tree down when we heard the news.
I'll send over my gnomes...you'll be thankful for that quiet Christmas! Cheers!
My kids also away! But honestly I'm kind of tired so ti's less to have to do in a way. I will miss all the fun though. Take care! K.
