Home From Fishing.....

Hi Everybody....
Theres a sleepy little fishing village on Saginaw Bay called Au Gres.
It's not very "Touristy" but it's right on the water.
My life long Friend/Frat Brother/Fishing Buddy Jim Shephard has a place
on a canal that leads out to the Bay. Jim invited me to wet a line with him
this past week-end, and as you can tell from the pics, we were successful!!!!
Walleye is what we were fishing for. They have to be 15 inches to keep, and
you are allowed 5 keepers apiece in your possession.
They second day's catch ran a bit bigger, with the largest fish being 24 1/2 inches
and it was almost 5 pounds! We threw many back and lost a few, so the action was
non-stop. He has a magnificent fishing boat and we were out about 3 miles in 38 feet
of water. The last pic is the fruits of our labor, about 20 pounds of Fillets.!!!
Whether you call them Walleyed Pike, Marble Eyes, Pickeral, Perch Pike, or
Sander Vitreus, they are without a doubt one of THE very best eating fish on
the planet!!!

Now we shall now return to our regular Blogging activities.....

Welcome back - the sun and water look wonderful!

My dad does not fillet very well - leaves a ton of bones in them. Grew up scared to death of fish.

My father-in-law = (loves to fish Lake Michigan - and I think why he never away from it) never a bone AND he cooks them on the grill and my mother-in-law has a secret beer breading. I could eat fish from them all day. They have a few fish hanging on the guest bedroom wall - I don't really care for that...

Sigh--only fish you can catch here are mudcats and other bottom feeders--a lot like the political scene. Enjoy that fish fryin and/or grilling, and do your best to forget that stuff is actually good for you. Glad you got to recreate so productively, G.
