She Loved The Monkey's Uncle.....

For most American Baby Boomer Males, after school meant...
The Mickey Mouse Club!!
And the Number One star of that show was Annette Funicello.
Yeah, Darlene was kinda hot, and the adventures of Spin and Marty
were cool, but trust me, the ONLY reason I watched the show was Annette.
And when she outgrew the Mickey Mouse Club, she made a series
of wholesome clean cut movies, that were GREAT family entertainment.
Her later years she contracted MS, and was confined to a wheel chair.
She died yesterday at age 70. R.I.P. Annette.

"Nows the time to say goodbye
to all our company....
M I C....See ya real soon
K E Y...Why? Because we LOVE you
M O U S E."

Yeah, we'll be seeing you soon enough girl.
And I'll be up for some Beach Blanket Bingo!!!!!

I still think "The Monkey's Uncle" is one of the best movies! Very classy lady.

I liked Spin and Marty more than Annette, and Roy Rogers and Sky King, too, more than the MMC, but sad to see her go in such a long drawn out and dreary way--she had a sweet smile, and was the essence of being young in a time that seems insanely innocent, of fun and sun and the beach, even three thousand miles inland.

Classy, classy lady. She truly graced us with her presence. Nice, nice post. I've been on vacation but am back. My five year old son was sick with a fever the whole time... (thank goodness for Tylenol & Advil). The first whole day we were home, he recovered. Go figure.

I rushed home from school every day to watch Annette who was a year older than me. I so wanted to look just like her ~~~ damn that blonde hair of mine.

I loved Annette Funicello and those surfer movies. I wrote her when I was, I don't know, maybe twelve or thirteen and she sent me an autographed photograph. Sure it was a reproduction, but I didn't care. Sure wish I had that today.

M.S. is such a horrible disease. It robs a person of everything.
It would be nice if there were more leading ladies like Annette, who didn't feel the need to bare it all at the drop of the hat. I'm not a prude, but I do get tired of everything always having to be sexed up.

I remember enjoying some of her movies and I wasn't allowed much tv-
I am glad she was a brunette, it gave us dark haired types some hope! :)
