Flash Friday 55.....
They amuse, protect, frustrate.
Give comfort, chew things, exasperate.
They shed, slobber, and bark
They enjoy crapping in the park.
Sometimes they pee on the rug, then hide under a couch.
They lick your face, even when you're a grouch.
In spite of it all.....
They are Unconditional Love
They are Unwavering Loyalty
They are Family.
I had a different 55 posted, but after I saw this pic of John Unger
wading out into Lake Superior to give his 19 year dog Schoep some
relief from the effects of arthritis, I had to write a little tribute.
John Unger....I'd like to shake your hand Brother!!
If you or anyone you know have written a Friday Flash 55
Please come tell The G-Man
I will visit, read, enjoy, comment....Then BOOK!!!
So from the most verklempt host from coast to coast
Have a Kick Ass Week-End!!!
Post Note: After this pic was posted on Face Book, John Unger was
deluged with contributions to pay for treatment for Schoep.
With over 25,000.00 donated, The Schoep Legacy Foundation was
established. Now other elderly pets from low income families have
a source of help for needed treatment. Schoep is now doing GREAT!!

I hate the new blogger.
I see no reason to change.

I love the part about crapping in the park, but my favorite is the line about peeing on the rug-- because that's EXACTLY what my cat did this week!
And yet I still love her.
Clearly I'm insane. :)
Thanks for another Friday 55!
Mine's here. :)
alright, see you all manana...glad i caught a few before bed time...smiles.
You just turned me into a bawling baby. :-) http://razzamadazzle.wordpress.com/2012/09/27/cancer/
Seriously cool on the donations.
LOL you Yahtzeed yourself.

This is so far the best story I've read today. Can you guess I'm a dog lover. My two 'kids' are sleeping peacefully by my feet right now. Glad they're both healthy. Nice that a foundation was started to help elderly dogs.
(G-Man, I had a birthday this week and now I'm concerned that senility has begun. Where was my head when I posted in the wrong place? Thanks for understanding.)
... Awe!!! Dogs are all heart and I have FOUR ... just got myself a Yorkie puppy. I'm just CRaZy! But none of my dogs are shedders... that would push me over the edge.
...and the new blogger is great - you will get used to it. Change is good - but it's OK to moan and groan along the way (that's what I do :)
A Prayer
SUch a great photo and sweet scene. I hadn't known about all the contributions, so cool. Strangely my 55 is about a dog too, sort of, but I do have a dog photo! Have a kick ass you know what and you will adapt to the new blogger.....
I love the story, but the best part is how this man's love for his dog has enabled him to help other dogs in need. You just never know.
A Better Life
aw, now that's a picture worth 1000 words but you sum it up so well in just 55.
Wonderful to read!

You keep giving all to a human, and he will still leave you. You give once to a dog, he will never leave you...
I did this time- just in time!
My 55
Hugs xoxo
Hear, hear. :')
(Plus, I just came from Teresa's.......)
~May we strive to become the person our dog already thinks we are. ;)
Loved your 55, G. I had seen that story on the news and it brought tears. Am so glad to read the follow-up here. My heart is lifted and I think I can sail through Friday now!
outcast as angel
The dog thing is cool. One of the benefits of lightening fast communication eh?
Lord I pray thee let me not make this a Friday habit
Awww... bless him and his dog!
Yes, they give us unconditional love, even though we mostly don't give it back. Great that the dog os doing so much better and the gay is paying it forward. WTG!~!

That kind of news should be on the front page! Nice.
Mine's up...happy weekend.
Unconditional love being returned in spades. I'm not so sure the same will be true for my 55. It's here
I can see why you changed your 66, G-Man. A touching story, and another reason why dogs are better.
(Try doing THAT with a CAT!)
I'm back again this week with Live Life NOW
This just made me smile, G-Man!
I love your post. What an awesome tribute to such a moving story of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. I salute you!
Mine is here
Have you a ROCKING AND BLESSED WEEKEND!!!
hugs
shakira
p/s I am so sorry I am late too. Hospital visits.
What a beautiful story! Dogs really are nothing but furry bundles of pure love.:)
I hate the new blogger too--one of the lumps of frustration driving my bloggy vacay. I got nothin for ya this week, my friend, but I loved your doggy 55--and re: the FB stuff, am glad to hear that people can be real human beings, at least when it isn't about other human beings.
That's okay, dogs deserve it more anyway. Have a kickass weekend.
How do you yahtzee yourself??
Had to comment on your 55 (tho I dont have one)
it was a great story of love and compassion and the response for the dog amazing
people do still care - hurrah
hi to all of you in 55 land
Love the 55 in praise of pooches! It got me thinking about friendship and...well, things went downhill from there. Here's what happens when one is more literal than literary!
Here's mine
That's so nice - I have a dog who is 17. She is terrific, though blind and at one point paralyzed but recovered more or less. She is just amazing.
Here's mine - less elevating! And late! (Sorry.) Traveling. k.

awww... that's a beautiful story with a nice ending. Happy weekend!
Hi G-Man, it's been a while between visits from me. I haven't been actively blogging for sometime and decided it was time to have a read. It was lovely reading this story after reading another story on another page where a fellow blogger had to stop and help a little puppy that had been shot twice with a BB gun. A beautiful 55 and what a beautiful man.
That's very sweet. And cool about the charity getting established.
