It's ALIVE...It's ALIVE!!!!

Hi everybody, Look what the cat drug in...G-Man!!!
I want to thank my loyal, trusted, and caring friends in
Bloggerville for all of your well wishes, positive thoughts and prayers.
What I thought was a painful  boil on my ass, turned out to be a very
fast acting Flesh Eating Virus called...Necrotizing Faciitus!!!
Yes the one thats been on the news EVERY NIGHT it seems since
I came down with it. I was literally hours from either wearing a colostomy,
losing my Manly-Parts, or DEATH. I'm only here through the luck of having
the brilliant Dr. Gutenkunst on duty when I was admitted to ER. He recognized
my situation, ordered immediate emergency surgery, and saved my life.
In the 16 days that I was in the hospital, I had FOUR OPERATIONS!!!
This is my third week home, and I just got my stitches out Tuesday. I still have
trouble sitting for any period of time, so my posting will be sparadic. As far as
Friday Flash 55 goes, I'm just not ready to tackle it yet. Please be patient.....
I so cherish the warm heart of all my Blogger Peeps.
Thank You from the bottom of my heart and.....
Have a Kick Ass Holiday Week-End....G-Man

Geez, G Man! What an ordeal. I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend. You have lots of bloggy friends who care about you.

I'm so glad to see you back, Galen. You've had a hell of an ordeal. It seems that you and I have something in common other than a love of writing. !n 1994, I was in the hospital for 3-1/2 weeks with... yep, necrotizing fasciitis. And you know what, it was all over the news then too. People were dying of it, and I almost joined them. I'm glad you beat it. (Actually, I'm glad I beat it too!) Welcome back, my friend.

Wow. Your ass almost kicked you, G-man. So glad you had a good Dr. and made it through.

Thought #1: Yaaaayyy!!! You're back! I'm so glad to hear from you finally. Welcome home.

Thought #2: Yikes! I've heard awful things about necrotizing fasciitis. I read a couple pages about it here and here. Nasty stuff. I'm glad you're ok.

Thought #3: Can't wait til you're ready to do Friday 55 again. We'll be here, eager to start whenever you're able! :)

What a dreadful ordeal. For what you've been through, you look pretty darn good. You must've lost a lot of weight too. Hospitals tend to do that to a person. Rest up and get strong. I was really happy to see a post from you.

oh g-man, i can't tell you how good it is to see you able to post yourself smiling and on your way to recovery. i will always be grateful to god for answering my prayers and those of many others by sending such a gifted surgeon to save your life.

A difficult challenge, indeed. It was life changing, I am sure. As George Bernard Shaw once said, " The real moment of success is not the moment apparent to the crowd." Being aware of how precious life is, fighting through the pain, all of it, the true human experience. My prayers are with you, and yours.

Peace, Jane

He's alive... and looks great! So happy I checked in tonight. Thank God for the Emergency Doctor's knowledge! That is a nasty bacteria (not virus) and thank God you are as tough as you are! 55's can wait until you are able to sit comfortably :) You've made my weekend!

Good on you for pulling through! I have a friend who nearly lost a leg last year due to this stuff. It's evil and more common than we realize. Kinda makes a person scared to leave the house.

I have some new writerly friends to send your way once you're doing 55s again so don't forget about us!

REALLY most excellent to have you back with us, Mr. G--you were sorely missed, but not as sorely as your ass, I'm sure--it's a good thing you're such a tough old case. What a scary scary thing and I'm so glad someone was on top of things when you needed them to be. Take good care of yourself and get well.

Holy sh--, G Man! Sounds like you nearly left us. As the news reports came in waves the last weeks it began to dawn on me what you were fighting. I am so glad you are back home and proud of you for realizing that 55 is too much right now. We'll be here when you are ready. I've thought about the daughter you sent birthday wishes to in the last month or so and my heart went out to her knowing it must have been miserable being so far away from you. Now you both can exhale!

Holy Mackerel- wild and crazy stuff!
So glad you are on the mend! been a wild spring and it is nice you are
getting stronger every day- Have a great Memorial Day !

Whoa dude! WTF---start smoking and drinking heavily and only wash your hands once a week. That's pretty messed up when the environment is trying to kill you. The above suggestions are to help you adapt to the pollution not to make you all foul and odoriferous--that's just a side benefit.

Seriously though I am sure you're glad to be home and on the mend. I know I was glad when MrKnowitall pooped up on the blogroll. That was honestly a good sight to see.

Linda said...

Wow, that was awful x 10. Glad your home and getting better. Looking forward to the return of the 55s.

Wow, your ass bacteria is a celebrity! So glad you got it taken care of. I try to avoid mushy stuff, but blogland has been less kick-ass since you've been on hiatus.

Sending healing thoughts in your direction, hoping that your body and mind recover fully.

That was one very close call. All the best to you... take your sweet time making your comeback in Blogland. We'll be here, waiting for you.

Good to hear you're on the mend, G-Man. You have to be tough to endure that many operations n so few days. Sending healing vibes from San Francisco.

Dear G-man! Wow! Terrible!!! Wonderful that you made it through. So so sorry.

I once had blood poisoning in my arm - cellulitis- which is probably completely different but somehow reminds me of your infection in that it was one of those things that is shockingly fast moving, seems to come out of nowhere, and would (in an age before antibiotics) kill you in a matter of days.

We're human! Take good care of yourself now and so glad you are back. k.
