Time Warp Monday.....

Hi Bird Baths, and welcome to Lunch with Soupy.
Before we eat our delicious Hamburger and Pie,
it's time for our daily, Words of Wisdom!!!
..You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead!
..Be true to your teeth, and they won't be false to you!
Now Pookie, White Fang, and Black Tooth...Lets eat.

Sorry everyone, but unless you grew up anywhere in Michigan
in the late 50's, or early 60's, this post probably makes
absolutely No Sense to you. But every Saturday afternoon was
Lunch with Soupy and his crazy band of characters.
My Mind regresses....Must be the advanced age!

I recognize Soupy Sales (and remember him being a sort of staple on game shows back in the day), but never knew of his wacky Lunch with Soupy show. Did you hear me groaning, G, when I read those words of wisdom?? ;)

OK. I'm a pretty long way from Michigan and did a small amount of growing up in the 50s but I don't have any other reason for having heard of Soupy Sales. So where do I know him from?

I wish he'd told me about the teeth around 40 years ago......

i think Soupy was Pee Wee Herman's inspiration. Except for his movie choices.

I'm just barely old enough (and Michgander enough) to remember Soupy. . .

I remember seeing him into the 70s on a more 'national' stage (out of New York, maybe?); that probably accounts for others' memories of him. . .

Was that only in Michigan? Now that you mention it, I think it was my ex who said something to me about Soupy Sales - and he grew up in Detroit in the '50's and '60's.
