One-Shot Wednesday.....

The ice is out, it's warming up,
It's time for my annual mission.
I ain't talkin bout no Harley ride,
I'm talkin bout goin Fishin!
From a boat, from the shore,
or from a creaky ole dock.
Grab some bait, make a lunch...
Bring an extra pair of socks.
Your casting rod, a Zebco reel,
Or a trusty old cane pole.
Toss em in the trunk, head out to a lake,
or your favorite fishing hole.
Alone or with a buddy,
your daughter or your son...
You're NOT at work, you're Not at home,
You ARE outside having FUN!
So remember this the next time,
your world is filled with strife...
Every day spent fishing, God adds that to your life!

.

I guess the theme this week is Rhyme!
Right on Time with the Rime!
Is it Wednesday?
Have any poetry or prose laying around?
If you do, post it on your blog, then go...here!

hi g-man, i love your poem...what it says about letting go of all the aspects of life weighing us down and the simply joy of a fishing pole...deep in thought, soothing and relaxing, letting your mind row away into the water while the fish are jumping...now all i need is someone with a boat, a fishing pole, tackle box and knowledge to teach me...see how your poem has influenced your readers!!! wonderful write and a joy to read...

I should have known you for a fisherman--(no, it's not about your pole. Shape up!)It's about the wonderful fish stories you think up for your posts, and the tall tales and stuff. I like this one because I so totally agree there is nothing better for the soul than being outside, except maybe being outside fishing (or gardening) with your kids.

This should be THE poster poem for fishing!

Nothing like it indeed. It's been a long time ago for me but all great memories.

Your poem makes me want to get reacquainted with Northern MI, G. Unfortunately, I've only gone fishing when I was really little. Think I'm about due to learn how it's done. A great poetic call to the great outdoors.

I will always remember catching my first fish with my Pop, spent Father's Day on the Lake with him, singing over the water as we trolled back and forth. God truly blessed me with this memory forever.

You need to organize a fishing trip. Seriously.

I love the rhyme and flow of this G! And of course, getting outside to just enjoy life is the best call to action one can have! I used to love going fishing with my grandparents when I was a kid. I think that I might have to set up some fishing dates for my kids with my neighbours and their grandpa soon.

Very sweet! I hope you get many chances to go fishing and have fond memories of doing so when your kids were little. I've gone fishing ONCE and it was AWESOME. When my husband and I were dating we camped out and fished by a dam. The moon was full and the fish were almost jumping into our laps! I caught quite a number. I walked away thinking fishing was an action sport!

I may have missed you yesterday, but this is the essence of rhyme. It's so appealing, and so comforting. What a wonderful world you created with your words. I felt that "gettin' up early in the mornin'" feeling. Well done, you! Thanks, Gay

Gosh, this made me miss my Dad, Galen. He used to take us kids fishing. We'd go out on the lake in the small motorboat, 5 in the morning, the mist rising, the sun just kissing the tops of the pines and those were blissful times.

I won't whine,
or drink wine,

I'll just eat the catch, if that's OK?

It's that time of year alright!
I can't get out there soon enough nor often enough to suit me.

Nice One Shot, G-Man!

Hey G-man,
Great poem. Fun rhyme. Is that where you are, fishing? I was wondering what was up with flash 55 this week.
Cheers,

...I'm missing a super long one I did. I hope it comes back. And I'm ready to go with this week's 55! Just waiting for you.

Could this be considered a YAHTZEE? LOL :)

The most fun I had with my dad growing up was goin' fishin'. I learned patience, small talk, and how to stick my hand into a bucket of wiggling shrimp, all important life lessons.

Thank you for your comment on my post, Galen. You are a peach.
