Thursday Portrait.....

I've been plagued by leg cramps at night lately.
I have a friend at work that claims that if you
crumble up a bar of soap and put it under your sheet
by your legs, No Cramping will occur!
Now THAT sounds a bit too 'Folksy' for me, I'll stick
to Ben Gay and Potassium.
Now the price of banana's reminds me of something....
But I just can't put my finger on it..Hmmmmmm...
See Ya Friday..(Or 8:00 PM Thursday EST)

I've heard that eating a dill pickle is the trick. I figure it can't hurt so I get up and eat a pickle and then walk around and the cramp goes away. But it sucks to have to leave a warm cozy bed and walk around the cold house on a cold April night with sleet hitting the windows and the wind howling like a demented banshee.

I expect the best bet of all is that banana, but you better buy organic ones when available!

I like bananas but I can't eat them at night because of heartburn. Therefore, Icy Hot is the ticket!

Only one thing really works at avoiding those leg cramps, and a lot of other aches and pains--die young. A little late for that though.

Soap under your sheets sounds like it would be uncomfortable enough to *give* you cramps.

heard my grandma do a hell lot of things for pain and calling them 'ayurvedic'.

Once I told her that some of the things don't make any sense.

Grandma- We are Indians, the inventors of Ayurveda. Trust me, we are born with the talent of finding out cures!

I had to hug her and agree.

Maybe you're pregnant? I got wicked leg cramps with both my pregnancies. :)

The soap thing made me laugh. Hunks of soap in my bed would keep me awake all night - and I'd be so pissed off about that, I'd be too busy to notice the leg cramps...Ah Cure! ;)

Yeah it reminds me that the price of potassium has gone up four cents in the last week.

Seriously get your doc to give you some Neurontin for your leg cramps, common issue with Diabetics.

I hope the potassium in the bananas helps, G.

I'd never heard of the soap in the sheets before. I'm always curious about the origins of those types of cure-alls.

I got nuttn' on bananas but I do know that leg cramps can be caused by dehydration. Drink more water G-man...you may be up at night making unwanted trip to the bathroom, but at least it won't be leg cramps keeping you up.

Dude, are you getting "growing pains" in your legs? You big boy you. Maybe some children's Motrin?

But seriously, sorry to hear about your pain. Never heard of the soap thing! Is is hemp soap??

Yes, that banana reminds me there's NO SCHOOL tomorrow, and that mean no SCHOOL LUNCH to slave over for me, whoooohooo

xxooxo

If your leg cramps hurt bad enough--excruciating--you will try ANYTHING! Mine did. I did. Soap WORKS! It did take a few nights to become accustomed, but for the benefit, that was a minor, rather NO problem.

Peeps, if ya haven't tried it, don't knock it. Haven't had a problem in several years--stopped using it after two years, no need. they had to amputate both legs. JUST KIDDING, GUYS!!!!! Not kidding about the SOAP!

Soap under your sheets is a little bizarre, but I've heard about eating bananas or orange juice for muscle cramps.
