One Shot Wednesday.....

.
THE RUBIYAT OF CHRISTMAS...
.
Spirit of the Season, the sights and sounds
Joy to the World, good will abounds
Feliz Navidads, Joyeaux Noels
The feeling of Love, completely surrounds
.
Spirit of the Season, a reason for Living
Spreading some Cheer, the beauty of Giving
Horse drawn sleighs, Jingle Bells
Rosy red cheeks, occassional sniffling
.
Spirit of the Season, your Energy and Zeal
Wide-eyed Amazement, Your innocent Appeal
Delicious treats you can not resist
At least One day a year, a Family Meal
.
Spirit of the Season, soon you'll be gone
Please don't abandon, the waitings too long
The Charm of the Holidays soon will be missed
Held close to your bosom, is where we belong
.
.
This poem was done in the RUBIYAT format.
The rhyming scheme is....
.....a
.....a
.....b
.....a
.
.....c
.....c
.....b
.....c
.
If you have a short story, prose, or any poetry of any format.
On Wednesday post it on your blog, then go visit the very
talented crew at One Stop Poetry......HERE!
Link up, then go read some fantastic writing.
Happy Holidays Everybody......Galen

I kept waiting for the snark...but sincerity ain't bad, once a year. And in rubaiyat form--didn't some Omar guy write one about wine and bread and singing and stuff? I feel incredibly cheery now.

I like the challenge of structured poetry and always admire one who tackles difficult rhyme schemes. Good job! I've wanted to try the Wednesday thing. Merry Christmas to you!

Merry Christmas G! How very Christmasy of you. As I am reading this Wednesday and saw your portrait, I just have to say "I LOVE YOUR EARRINGS!" I think I have a pair exactly like them (minus the 55).
