Retro Wednesday.....

.
.
Yesterday I sent the University of Michigan my season football ticket renewal fee for 2010. The $750.00 didn't show the $10.00 service charge added to the total, PLUS the $125.00 per seat Victor's Club surcharge totaling $250.00 for my 2 seats that had to be sent in last February just for the priviledge of getting your ticket renewal sent to you!!!
WTF?
As you can see by the ticket prices of past games, the cost of enjoying a fun Fall day in Ann Arbor has escalated to Biblical proportions! You can bet that the cost of a premium game such as Ohio State or Michigan State at home will have $60.00 stamped on this years ticket.
The Victor's Club surcharge wasn't added until 4 years ago, when they started construction on the "Sky-Boxes" and prefered seating. So the $12.00 stamped on the 1981 ticket, actually only cost $12.00. Not only that, we used to get to the game very early so that we could find a place to park on the street for free. We now pay $20 Bucks a game to park at our favorite spot. I guess if you are an alumni of U of M, they figure you can afford it eh?
I scrimp and save all year long for the ability to enjoy those few fleeting hours of agony, but more often than not ecstacy, that one can only get by sitting in Ann Arbor Michigan, at the corner of State and Stadium, on a beautiful Saturday Autumn day, in The Big House, rooting for the winningest team in collegiate football history....Go Blue!!
Only 116 more days to kick-off...
Peace...!!!

It will be worth every red cent. Het that is a pretty good TMI Question. Why is it called a red cent when it's copper?

If you enjoy it -- which you clearly do -- then it's worth the agony and the ecstasy.

I like football...in the comfort of home.

But I suppose one day they will be wheeling Mr Know-it-all up to his season seat. Stay young, Sir.

Although I am enjoying age.

Operate was a success!

the woes of a die-hard sportsfan! i hope your team at least wins for you.

That surcharge is highway robbery! They made the seats (area on bench!) smaller, and now you have to help pay for some rich corporations sky box! I worked for one of those companies that will have one of those boxes..the owner is a huge fan and his name is on the redone locker rooms..

you know we used to get nose bleed seats at dodgers stadium for 5 bucks and sneak down to the front and no one would say nothing!!
we sat behind third base and watched will clark hit a homer out of left field and threw strawberries at ol darryl when he came out. it was a blast though those seats probably cost a fortune now too!!

if you can put the money together to pay for it and still pay the bills go for it. i know it's something you love dearly and enjoy with several lifelong friends. and that's priceless.
