Retro-Wednesday....

When I first started selling cars at Vic Canever Chevrolet back in the 80's, we had a semi-formal dress code. We didn't have to wear a suit, but we did need at least a sport jacket within arms length. Within a few years I had developed a penchant for 100% silk ties that were a bit off beat yet stylish. The anchor store at our local mall was J.L. Hudson. They sold a line of ties called The Beatle Collection.
I was addicted to collecting as many as I could afford, and here are most of them.

Yellow Submarine
Do You Want To Know A Secret
When I'm 64
Back In The USSR
Good Morning
Birthday
Baby You Can Drive My Car
Ticket To Ride
Hard Days Night

Eventually we adopted a 'Casual' dress code at work with golf or polo shirts, and my ties got exiled to the far recesses of the closet. In all, I probably own about 90 or so silk ties....All waiting patiently to be adorned once again by someone that loves them.

"Will you still feed me? Will you still need me? When I'm 64!!

Peace...!!!

That's a great collection of ties! MWM collected a lot of silk ties when he was working as he had to wear one every day - they were'n't as fancy as yours though! LOL

Funny they didn't have a Long and Winding Tie?

You could always sew them all together and make a retro Hefner style silk smoking jacket.

Cool set of ties. You know there's also a line of Jerry Garcia ties? But it does seem there are few workplaces that call for wearing suits any more.

Cool ties! And on a Wednesday yet. You could still wear those ties, albeit they're probably collectors items now.:)

very cool. i think there is a pattern for turning ties into a quilt. that's an idea that would allows continued use of them.

I used to sell cars also in the early 80's. I sold 7 cars in the month that I worked there - it still wasn't enough to live on...you must have a large house to store all of your retro stuff!!

In 1957, my dad went from selling insurance for Metro Life, to car sales..he went from dull suits to sport coats and outrageous color and tie combos! He was well known in the area for pastel sport coats and a flat top hair cut! My dad was an American original! I miss him..

Dear lord, how did I miss commenting on this? I'm losing my edge G-Man. Either that or the snow is gone and I'm not blogging as much, LOL. I remember those ties well. Wait, does that mean I'm old? Oh crud. I'm old, LOL.

I'd have these framed so's I could gloat over them at my leisure - believe the appropriate word would be 'Fab!'
