TMI Tuesday........

I used to, in my creative early days of blogging, tried to have a feature on Tuesday called TMI Tuesday. This is hardly creative, but it is indeed Too Much Information!!
A very good friend of mine has genital herpes. When this was first discovered, he/she was quite distraught. Trying to cheer them up I did a little reading on the subject. It seems that quite a few famous people has this STD, and lead very normal productive lives.
Well documented public cases include..Robin Williams, Derek Jeter, Davis Hasselhoff, Liza Minnelli, Billy Idol, and Jessica Alba.
This gave me a great idea for a post!!
Since this is TMI Tuesday, do any of you have any strange affliction that you would like to 'come clean' with?
C'Mon, we are amongst friends, it'l make you feel better!! It can be a allergy, a condition, an obsession, something that you swallowed, maybe something that you have had removed. If you are shy....NO PROBLEM!!!
I respect everybody's sense of privacy!
I'll even go first...
I'm a full-blown diabetic, and I've been insulin dependent since 1995.
I go to the Dr. very regularly. Check my blood daily. And count my carbs and do not drink much alcohol at all. I take 65 units of Lantus by syringe every night. And I take 1 unit of Humolog per every 5 grams of carbs by injection pen daily.
I exercise by walking daily to increase my circulation. And I take particular care of my feet. I don't have a glamorous circle of fellow afflictees, I share my disease with Wilfred Brimley.
Peace...!!!

Oh, I also have a hernia that I've been putting off getting fixed. Maybe I'll share that photo on Thursday...hehehehe

Diabetes, there's a challenge. But it sounds like you manage it well!

I have arthritis, very bad eyesight corrected with contacts, a slight deafness which means I can hear people talking but have no idea what they're actually saying, and oh yeah... evidence of too many donuts around my middle. For years I was a size six (all my favourite clothes still are!) but I'm now inarguably a 12.

*sigh*

TMI Tuesday... what a concept! LOL This might get veerrry interesting...?

Hi Galen - thought I'd stop in for old times sake - and wound up upping my high blood pressure reading about maladies... LOL

Just plain old fat broad here, with high blood pressure and a tendency to overdo my salt and alcohol intake... could be worse.

Thanks for your post. Hope all is well up your way - I kinda miss the old thrill of the early blogging days. My blog has suffered greatly from that same malady - and I don't know if it will ever recover. cheers - you are a pretty funny guy - even now. xo

I seem to behave oddly every time there's a full moon and, believe it or not, there are those who call that a strange affliction. Anyway ... get that hernia fixed!:)

You can look at the inside of each of my ankles and very easily see my heartbeat.
Also, I have an uncontrolable urge to paint furniture.

i dont want to take away
from this stellar post
(cough cough)
but if you got a hernia,
you KNOW the only
and best place to get it fixed
is the Shouldice Clinic
in Toronto.
and i mean the
ONLY place to get it
taken care of...
i'm just sayin'...

Thanks for sharing TMI! For today, I'm healthy as an ox...except maybe the mental defect I suffer from...CRS Syndrom!

Good to you hear that you take such good care of your health.

So what is you H1AC...I've been pretty good at keeping mine at 7 or below. Been mixing up two kinds of Humalog now for ten years but we were both diagnosed in the same year.

15 surgeries at last count one to remove a skin cancer. Ha ha ha fuck it, beat that one too.

I suffer from clinical depression and social anxiety. Not the bi-polar kind, but the kind where I sometimes want to kill myself.
I never would. But I think about it a lot. And I don't like to talk about it.

It warms my heart to know you take such good care of yourself. I've seen what not taking care of yourself can do to a person first hand.

Thank you for the birthday wishes G-man!! Much love!!

65 units of Lantus!!!

That is so much!

Anyway..if it keeps your sugar in check...

You manage it well. My husband does so too...

When I get running really fast, I fart.

Is that enough TMI for ya..

I have this uncontrollable urge to announce the birthdays of every blogger I know in the grandest fashion I can think of.

Of course, this only seems strange when I don't actually know the person's birthday. Then they get to have a random celebration day at some point in the year. And that can be kinda odd.

Well G-man, since I had 2 fat grandmothers, I blame them for my fatness...:D OK, I have to watch my high blood pressure...Oh,I recently performed self surgery...removed a skin tag!
I broke my left ankle back in the 90's..no problem...sprained my right 2x's and now it is still swollen and aggrevates me from time to time. I had lasix done on my eyes also...

I also live with a diabetic...he shoots up every day. If your sugar is off G do you get nasty, mean? Or is it just that my husbands ugly Gemini twin decides to surface?? :P

I had cataracts(hereditary condition!) removed from both eyes when I was 47... I now have permanent interocular corrective lens implants in my eyes.. I really only wear glasses occasionally!

you're taking care of yourself real well, i like that! me? i'm perfect. but then again you knew that, right?!?!? other than an insane imagination, freaky mind flips, and a love of all things magical. oh, i am allergic to alcohol and penicillin (how the hell do you spell that word?!?!) though. but other than that, i'm boringly healthy... touch wood...

I have Heberden's nodes on my fingers. It's arthritis which causes bony growths on the joints of the fingers - not a pretty sight.

You can see it here http://www.turner-white.com/pdf/hp_jul01_nodes.pdf

Oh and you know I have a prosthetic knee of course!

Getting old sucks. Mine started at 40 with double hernia surgery, followed by knee surgery with the latest malady being the removal of 15" of large colon two years ago followed by chemotherapy to rid the rest of my body of the cancer that started in my colon.

Colonoscopies may make people cringe at their mere mention, but it saved my life and I highly recommend them to anyone over 50.

I'll save the psychotherapy for another TMI Tuesday.

Oh I'm shy, Idon't know if I should. G-Man. Clever and nosey you are :)
...but well I suffer panic attacks so I am in treatment for that.
And I still smoke what kills my body and makes me feel really guilty. Stupid! Then why don't you give up?
Yes, That's the question...
Apart from that, I try to write poetry: my best therapy nowadays.

I'm mad at you...you didn't stop by on FRIDAY and you must read it now!! :(

Wait. What? said...

Oooh this is fun - I contemplated doing it anonnymously but then what kinda fun is that?!

I have had a hernia ( ingoinal) it was due to my having two very large babies and the muscle fibers stretching, at least that is what the surgeon said - I had it operated on in 2001 and have been right as rain since!

Currently I have a thyroid condition that makes me a slave to exercise in order to maintain a normal and healthy weight...

I have crappy hearing. That's about my worst. Get that hernia fixed. I had two fixed a couple of years ago. :)

My Uncle has adult onset and my cousin had Juvenile. Challenging disease.

The Hoff has herpes? And Madonna isn't on that list? LOL.

Well first of all I am left handed and only 5'1".
As if that isn't enough, I have amblyopia. That means I can only see out of one eye.
Then there is the fact that I have gained 10 pounds since I got back from India. My secret is that I weighed 193 pounds when I was 19 and since then, man, I fight that battle all the time. So, this time back from India, I was very interested in whiskey and taking the trash out, and munchies ensued. You know what I'm sayin'?

To tell you the truth Gman, it's a goshdamn good thing that I don't live in yer parts or I would still be a 200 pound girl.

Sigh.....

bit of arthritis and one of
those bumpy things on my baby finger.

due to 2 non successful lazy eye
operations when i was about 18 months
old. depressed, more and more of a social
phobic and hermit every day.
this is fun G...!
