The Heddon Fishing Lure Co. of Dowagiac Michigan, has made quality and collectable fishing tackle since 1902. Of course I have a few in my tackle box. I'd have dug more out, but the mosquitoes were eating me alive!!!
These lures are at least 50 years old, and I have caught many fish with them, but I would never take the risk of losing them now.
They would be worth a lot of money had I saved the original box...Who Knew??
Peace...!!!

I didn't know fishing lures were collectibles. I thought you threw 'em in the water, the fish ate them (or spit them out), and that was pretty much it. Shows what I know about the great outdoors!:-)
...and somewhere, there's somebody with an old box wishing he had the lure! LOL
Oh hey, look at that!
My father used some just like those, and I'm guessing they were as old. I wonder what happened to them all, now.
Those are fantastic. But where are the worms?
I remember those from my Grandfather. He had tons of them. Boy that makes me miss him even more. Great photo :)
oh Lordy no telling what treasure we could find around MY house! I dont think we fished with those cause they are too sweet, maybe you should get the special ones shadowbox framed for future generations!
If I pass a little lake one day with a crazy man crying i will know it is u fishing with one of these lures and a fish getting away with one. ;oD
Great Retro!
I guess fish will eat anything.
mosquitoes were eating you alive???
that reminds me of a horrible real life incident here! My servant's sister had twins, and one night red ants ate up half of the baby alive!!
My brother would appreciate those, he's a keen fisherman. :)
uhmm..Mona...I think G-man getting bit by mosquitoes, and a baby getting eaten by red ants are..kinda different?
No Shit...!!
Big G, I think Ham's old lures would look nice on display. Setting on the shelf next to his old saltwater reels at my place in Au Gres. You could come up and look at them any time you like. Fish On
I like these old things put behind glass, in a neat little frame. Americana Art at its best!
Lovely lures...I have to laugh because on my camping trip this past weekend some city sleekers were fishing on the river with deep sea poles! :D But, I must admit. that Delaware river was raging and moving swoft... :/
thanks for stopping by G...I still luvs ya! ;)
When I saw the first lure- I knew it was a Heddon! I have some of those same lures! I also still have a Bronson reel- that was made in Bronson, MI...
Don't forget- Shakespear had a rod and reel factory in Kalamazoo,MI!
lots of stories in those lures i am betting!
if lures could talk ...
smiles,
I will think of something for 55 friday. Thanks for stopping by.
Reminds me of my "yut". My dad and I loved fishing together. We used lures just like those in your pictures or fresh bait.
He also loved trout fishing and his hobby was tying flies.
