Dog Day Afternoon......
Hi Everybody...
Detroit has a HUGE Summer Event every year called the Woodward Dream Cruise! Hot Rodders and Motorheads cruise up and down the main drag of Motown, and people come out in droves to watch the action. But for people that want similar fun without fighting Mega-Traffic, you ought to check out Flint's Back To The Bricks.
For three fantastic days, Downtown Flint is closed off to thru traffic, and vintage cars park along Saginaw St. for the Flintoids to admire close up.
This event was featured last year on the Speed Channel, and it is growing in popularity. The two old timers standing in ftont of the truck are my friends Barry and Alex. It is ungodly HOT and Humid today, and I'm grilling and smoking a turkey on the Weber. I'm also making Boston Baked Beans from scratch, grilled Yellow Summer Squash, and I'm having sliced tomatoes with sliced Mozorella cheese, drizzled with garlic and fresh basil Olive Oil. I wanted to make the beans in my other grill, but my pan was too big so I'm cooking it in the oven. What an Idiot!! I drove everyone out of the house till they get done.I'll just CRANK up the air, and go down to the family room and watch the PGA by myself...Quietly!!
Pics of the feast of course will be seen tomorrow..
Enjoy the pictures of the relics of a bygone and glorious era....
Peace...!!!

This sounds like a blast!
The red and orange cars in the middle actually gave me stirrings.
What a fun time that must be. Great cars and great food...what more could anyone want :) Excellent my friend :)
WOW! Man, those cars!! I want the orange one please :)
My older brother taught me what all those different 50s and 60s cars were. I can identify almost any American car from between 1949 and 1969, when I was 14. After that, you're on your own!
What a blast! You definitely are one for "nostalgia".
I wrote a poem once that I named "HISTORY". I think I'll change it "NOSTALGIA". I posted it once a while ago. Maybe I'll post it again sometime.
Your menu sounds 'out of this world' good.

What a great event (the menu sounded pretty awesome as well). I have a buddy who retored a 64 Ford Fairlane. I can't wait to tell him about this and the event in Flint. Thanks for the pics.
Sweet! I don't know what is cooler... the Stingray or the Corvair!!
this morning(Mon) on the way to work I saw an old fancy roadster go speeding by...your blog cars complete my day! :)
Wow! I used to have a 1964 red Covair, white interior, 4- speed Monza! About as fast a VW, it was a lot of fun! We have an Event like that now, on 28th street once a year- getting bigger all the time!
Me, I like little sports cars.
That vintage 'Vette is gorgeous! I'd say a good time was had by all.:)
