Retro Wednesday.....

My daughter Amanda was born April,11,1986.
We brought her home 2 days later.
This mylar balloon was waiting for her when we came home.
I've kept it in the cupboard for 23 years.
It's a bit faded but still full and firm.
She's getting married this Friday...

Peace...!!!

she's only a year older than my oldest and she's getting married already *sigh* how are you feeling, papa? little misty-eyed? my dad cried like a baby my first go-round. the pics of him doing so are not so pretty lol but i know you're proud of your girl.

so cool that the balloon has held up all this time :)

Wow, how astonishing that that balloon is still going! Congrats on the wedding. I know she's made y'all very happy, but don't worry, she'll still be your little girl.

Congratulations! Watching your daughter get married is one of those very precious life moments. The balloon gives away your soft spot for her. Bring a hankie!

Relish every moment on that special day! May God bless the new couple.

Add 6 more words and this could be your Friday 55.

Enjoy the wedding Pops...anyone want to make wagers as to when the old man lets a tear leak out?

ooooh, congratulations and the best possible wishes for your daughter and hubby-to-be!!!!

you do know of course, how lucky you are you don't live with me. i tend to toss things away. you'd still think you were looking for that balloon you kept, when in the meantime i would've disposed of it like, 10 years ago???? and then there would be no retro wednesday for you!

Wait. What? said...

Oh now this is possibly the sweetest sentiment I have read of a father doing. Congrats to her on her wedding!

How wonderful that the balloon has lasted so long! And how wonderful your baby is about to get married, you must be so proud! You will show us photos won't you? :)

How come none of my balloons will stay full? Not fair!!!

Congrats to your daughter on her upcoming wedding. Maybe she could carry the balloon down the isle instead of flowers. That'd be so cool!!!

congrats dad! i know the feeling well - both my girls are married (happily yet i might add). giving them away on that wonderful day was one of the most difficult things i've had to do.....

If her marriage lasts as long as that balloon- she will make it "til death do us part"... Congrats to you and her!

Congratualtions. But I find it a little scary that the balloon has deflated.
