This was my first tennis racket. I've owned it since 1970. The strings are made of 'Catgut'. ...Of course, it's NOT made from cats. (Sheep or Goat Intestine!!)
Hey - I have a very similar racket in my close that I've owned since 1974. It plays better than my $300 specially made, perfectly balanced latest model. And it's RED!
Had a Rod Laver wooden racket I preferred! Do you remember "paddle ball"? I was west "Y" champ here one year in college.. played a guy from Calvin College once..who took City Title- took me apart like a cheap suit! Nice guy, I think he could have beaten me even worse than he did!

The first time I heard the term "catgut" when I was a kid, I was horrified. LOL. I swear, you've got more stuff.:)
I thought that gut strings were used to sew up people after operations...
and I use some hog hair brushes for doing my oils of canvas...
hey! i remember something like this too. a hand-me-down for my sister (18 years my senior...)
did you use that to beat bjorn borg?

Wow a real old tennish raquet! :)
I'd use it to swat some ball's over here on Jefferson Avenue, it looks sturdy enough. But then I guess you're not gonna go there eh G?
Pffffft. If you were REALLY cool, you'd have your own bowling ball with your name on it, like I do! ;-)
You must not be a racket thrower!
