Retro-Wednesday.....

My Mother knitted this while I was still in the womb.
The winter of 49.
It's the only Christmas Stocking that I've ever had..Or ever will.
I remember a little quip that my Grandma used to to say, when someone asked how she was. She answered..."Fair, Fat, and Fifty!!
Well, I can only say that for one more year...EXACTLY!!!
Peace...!!!

Enjoy your year. But as long as you are healthy and are enjoying life, what is a year between friends?

Have a wonderful time celebrating your birthday. Happy happy Galen.

Love the stocking. Very nice but you have outdone yourself with this one.

aww, i have a stocking really similar to that one that my grandmother made for me when i was a baby. when i got married my MIL made one that was almost identical. must have been a popular pattern. i love that you still have your stocking. it's such a special thing and i am sure so full of happy memories.

have a very happy birthday, galen. wishing you the very best.

xoxo

mona, the stockings are knit from the toe up so i am guessing grandma got as far as she could until the wee gman was born and she could add his name.

Ok, on to that stocking. So, you were going to be a Galen regardless of sex?

Happy Birthday, Galen!

And now for my best trick.

I will pop out of your cake.

And sing like Marilyn Monroe...

...or maybe I'll just pull a bunny out of my top hat.

Or Both.

Wish for something good!

xoxo!

But, don't tell anyone, or it won't come true.

Happy, happy, joy, joy!

That's so cool! I thought I might have had the oldest Christmas stocking (from 1957, I believe) but you topped me. Excellent!

(Came here from Lime's place, by the way.)

Happy belated birthday, G-man!

I'm habitually late on these sorts of things, it seems.

The stocking is terrific. You are so lucky to have it!
