Bike Nite Car Cruise........

Last night I went to a different Bike Nite other than Scooters.
This one was at a small bar in my old neighborhood named Porkies Clubhouse.
The reason I went there was because it was on the main drag of Flint, and a classic car auto cruise is going on all week-end. The cruise route is about 15 miles long and cars were passing by all night .. My camera phone takes shitty pics so I didn't even bother to post any more blurry cars. The first pic shows my vantage point of the oncoming traffic. Here is an interesting side note. The older building across the street to the right, is all thats left of old Fisher Body.
Fisher Body was originally called the Durant Carriage Works, it was owned by Billy Durant, who was regarded to be the founder of General Motors. My grandpa worked at Fisher for 40 years, as did most of my class-mates parents. It closed down in the mid-80's as a mfg facility, and is now a Tech Center. That too was part of the Sit-Down strike of the 1930's, that gave rise to the UAW.
The second pic is just like my very first car...A 1963 Impala! I wish I had that car now, I bought it in 1968 for 300 dollars!!
The last pic is a very nice chopper with a 1960 Chevy across the street..
See you all tomorrow for Friday Flash 55.
.
Peace..!!!

My father in law worked at Fisher Body for 40 years too. The end of an era.

Nice pictures and actually sad story. I remember Flint when GM started closing down. It was a ghost town and not any fun to be in. I went driving off the beaten path once back then, yikes.

It is amazing all the history from that one little area.

man, it's been YEARS since i even thought about cruising. the town over from where i grew up was a cruising capital because the main street was so wide.

glad you had fun. now where's that senior portrait?

oh yeah, we had a '68 barracuda convertible until i was about 9. that was a cool car.

Buicks fed and raised me.. To watch what has happened to Flint, Pontiac, Saginaw, and Detroit makes me sad..
