Friday 55.......

John Wayne's character in the movie..."The Searchers", was a defiant, macho-loner!
An Anti-Hero typical of the mid-50's.
Whenever someone said something he disagreed with, he'd sneer...
"That'll be the day"!
The phrase caught on among teen-agers. And especially for two young aspiring musicians from Lubbock Texas..Jerry Allen, and Buddy Holly!!
I loved The Duke...If you or anyone you know participated in this weeks Friday Flash 55, please come tell the G-Man. I will visit, read, enjoy, comment, then BOOK!!!
Please have a GLORIOUS week-end.

What are those removed comments all about? That's at least the second time I've seen it.

Anyway, great history. Except... Buddy Holly, sure. But who is Jerry Allen? *hides* I feel ignorant.

Happy Friday!

Hey G-man! I love the Duke! I am constantly saying "We're burning daylight!" but my favorite movie is McClintock.

I posted a 55 this week :)

Ohhh McClintock, great party, no whiskey, we go home!

Thats Missy that deletes her comments...You know why?
Because she is sooooo nice.
Yesterday she wanted Sherry to be the first commenter. And today she wanted the same for Morgie.

Anyway, please keep your 55's coming in folks, I promise I'll answer everyone later tonight...G

The Duke and Buddy Holly. What a great basis for an excellent little story.:)

My dad owns almost everyone of the movies John Wayne starred in. Everyone in our family enjoys his films.

Great 55 G-Man, as always!

I am leaving early in the morning for a week and a half of beach bliss with my family so when you don't see me around don't think I am ignoring you.

Take care!

so that's who popularized the phrase huh? cool!

i played along too.

smarmoofus I'm with you, who is Jerry Allen? *hides behind smarmoofus*

It doesn't matter if he hit it at the tale end, My dad always stops to watch any John Wayne movie when flipping through the channels.

I'm fiction deficient - all of mine (all three) have been nonfiction, but it's up.

Oh, and I was able to post a 55 this week as well.

I gotta start commenting here or she's gonna do it for me. And knowing the things that are likely to come out of her ... fingers, I think I'll leave my own (*winks at Smoofus*)
This week
And from the "For Those of You Who Missed It Desk":
my virgin effort (be gentle... please? it's my first time...)
