Book Review......

Last week the very talented James Goodman wrote a book review of the F. Paul Wilson novel, "The Tomb". In his review he talked about the central character of the story, Repairman Jack!
His review was so intriguing, that I decided to buy the book at my Friday Night Border's trip.
In the meantime, one of my blogging friends found out about it and offered to send me their copy of "The Tomb"...
Very elated about my sudden windfall, I bought the second novel in the series.... "Legacies"
I haven't written a book review in 35 years so please bear with my rustiness...Thanks.
.
Dr. Alicia Clayton is trying to destroy an inherited house to free herself from horrific childhood memories. But everyone she inlists to help her ends up dead. Her very creepy and repulsive half-brother Thomas will do anything to keep the house intact before she destroys it..
So she calls on Repairman Jack, and together they discover a 'key' to the mystery that many people want!
Even though this book was written in 1998, it is so very "Now" that you can't believe it. But the most interesting thing about this book is Repairman Jack himself. Jack is not your average appliance repairman...He fixes situations for people! Jack has no name, no Social Security number, only works for cash, and has no qualms what-so-ever about what it takes to get the job done. If it takes murder, arson, or Whatever, he gets it done..!
I picked up this book at 11:00 pm on Saturday night, read 100 pages, and finished it by 6:00 pm on Sunday, all 420 pages!! To say this book was fascinating and exciting would be an understatement. It's a very easy story to follow , with several other 'sidebars' to keep you glued to your reading chair. If you love a moderately fast paced action thriller, I highly recommend "Legacies", I think you'll be hooked on Repairman Jack. Why there hasn't been a movie made about THAT guy is a mystery in itself.....
.
Thanks again James...Your advice was right on!!
.
Peace...!!!

wow, I'm so glad you liked it, Galen. I couldn't agree more, Repairman Jack needs to be on the big screen. He is just such an engaging character, you can't help but like him. :D

Excellent, review and I'm happy to have steered you toward these books. :D

Hmmmm, repairman JACK! The name sounds apt for a repairman!

Galen I lifted the car with a Jack once & fixed a spare tyre when one of them got punctured & that too in the middle of the night on a dark road without any lights!

And all the street dogs came and started growling at me!

& Galen... see I told ya! There will be no escape, once the "tandav' begins.

Don't know what a Tandav is?

Ask James :P

Mona, do you mean the dance of destruction or creation? Either way, it'll be a vigorous flailing of the limbs. :D

I agree, Repairman Jack would be great on film, whether the big screen or a TV series. He's kind of like a modern-day Robin Hood, and wholly unique. Great review, G. If I hadn't already read it, I'd run right out and buy it. You'll like 'The Tomb,' too.:)
