Hiya Kids.........

OMG!!!
Well folks, it's happened again...
Today, 'ole' G-Man was slapped with the harsh reality of how old he really is!!
Today I made a comment on a fellow blogger's post, about a well known TV character named Froggy Gremlin. As I didn't realize, I was probably the only one in the world still alive that actually remembers the little fellow, AND what show he came from...
.
The Buster Brown Show....!!!!
It was hosted by a jovial actor named Andy Devine, And I even remember the theme song..
'Here's Buster Brown,
He lives in a shoe,
Here's his dog Tige.
He lives in there too'....
.
The cast of characters included, Midnight the Cat, Squeeky the Mouse, and the fan favorite, Froggy Gremlin!!!! Andy would say..."Plunk your magic twanger Froggy"...Then Froggy would come out to a riotous applause and say.."Hiya Kids, Hiya, Hiya, Hiya"....
Remember the kid in the later Little Rascal episodes...Froggy..?
Well, he sounded just like Froggy Gremlin...
I swear that was one of THE most often repeated phrases of the 50's...
.
1..I Like Ike!!!
2..Are you now, or ever have been, a member of the Communist Party..?
3..Kookie, Kookie, Lend me your comb..
4..Plunk your magic twanger Froggy..!!!
.
Now please refrain from any lewd comments, this is a family blog...hehehehe
.
Peace...!

& There was a song about a froggie that I learned to sing when I was in kindergarten and it was something like:

A frog he would a wooing go
Hey ho says Rolly
A frog he would a wooing go
Whether his mother would let him or no
With a roly poly gammon and spinich
Hey ho says Anthony Rolly

See? I remember the song even from since I was 3 and a half year old!

You SERIOUSLY want me to refrain from lewd comments with regards to "Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy!"

This was a kids' show...

or a porn flick?

=P

I think I would have liked this show very much as it seems to have encouraged the art of self-appreciation.

My kind of show.

T.V. these days has gone to shit, I tell you.

What happened to television that promoted plunking your magic twanger?

What?

People need to remember what it was like to be supported in plunking fun.

And I support you for supporting that, Galen.

I truly, TRULY do.

You freaking rock.

i'd also just like to say that
those characters you've posted
are the scariest looking creatures
i've ever seen, especially that
winking lady and her too many
teethed dog which i'm sure must be
none other than buster brown
but anyway its a wonder people didnt
self medicate when they saw stuff like
that and also that LSD frog thing...sheesh!
its like nightmare material...
ya, i dont remember anything before
Soupy Sales...

Hows about checking out this link. Note that there are some sound files on the pages too (sorry G-man) but they only seem to play with IE and not FireFox.

Interesting show from what I heard of the 6 or so sound clips. I am afraid I was not really watching TV when the show went off the air.

There are plenty of shows I remember that people look at me funny when I mention them. Just blame it on bad memory!

Holy cow...I haven't felt this young in....well....since a LONG time ago.

I'll have to bring this up to my mom and she what she remembers. Since she is roughly 10 years older than you she may or may not remember. She might get a kick out of it if I bring it up in our next phone conversation. hehe

` SO THAT"S WHERE THE GHOUL'S FROGGY COMES FROM!!! I never knew he had a history!
` The Ghoul, I know, derives from Ghoulardi, and he loves to blow up froggy and chop off his head, and once even, stuff him down Denise Dufala's garbage disposal!
` I used to watch The Ghoul in Ohio - I hear he's on in Michigan!

G-Man,

I must have missed your previous mention of Froggy Gremlin.

I remember him very well and the Buster Brown Show.

I don't remember Buster and Tige looking THAT menacing.

I remember the original Howdy Doody was scary looking - they had to change him to make more friendly looking.

Spoony Quine said...

` Buster Brown and Tige scared me too. I know about them because I used to wear their shoes wayyy back when I was small and cute.
