"I ain't sayin NOTHIN...Copper!"
'Yeah...? You got caught Red-Handed with 30 wooden cases marked...
Flinders Rose. You making bath tub gin?'
"GIN? You musta slept through biology class flat-foot.
Flinders Rose, aka Capparis Spinosa, is a Mediterranean deciduous perennial
with edible flower buds. Most folks call them....Capers! ......Copper."
'Capers eh?............. The Caper Caper!'
Gosh I've always adored alliteration! (assonance also)...hehehehehe
If you or anyone you know is alliterate or has written a Friday Flash Fiction 55
Please come tell The G-Man
I will visit, read, enjoy, comment.....Then BOOK!!
So from the most marvelously motivated host from coast to coast.
Have a Kick Ass Week-End!!!
I like Gin. I like capers. Try capers on deviled eggs. And enjoy a gin and tonic. Delish. Devlish.
ReplyDeleteMy brain is tired. But I am playing. 55's are cocaine...a helluvuh drug...

BINGO!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDamn, G-Man, you keep me rolling on the floor laughing my ass off! Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI posted one: He Takes Away
I absolutely adore alliteration and assonance. I can't quite quit using consonance.
ReplyDeleteMine is HERE.
I love good gin and capes, not necessarily together.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the offer of a Petoskey stone (so sweet) - but you're correct I do have a few - dug up from my own back yard when we were making a fire pit. NEVER found one walking the shore line. We had about 10 in different sizes and we put them in the front flower bed in their natural state. They would only get "fancy" when the sprinkler turned on, or when it rained - I loved that.
Venus of Antiquity
I find your way with botanical names quite compelling, G. But stay away from my assonance.
ReplyDeleteI'm playing, folks, but I won't be reading till tomorrow. See you all then.
Open Letter
Oh, you didn't!
ReplyDeletelol! I love me some capers and I love me some G-Man caper capers :)
ReplyDeleteMy 55: Alice's tumble
So you're an assonance man, G Man?
ReplyDeletea film noir, foodie, literary device 55. i am most impressed at that unexpected combination.
ReplyDeletecan you tolerate more tales of misbehavior from me?
Ah!
ReplyDeleteI've never had capers.
One of these days I plan to try them.
I didn't realize they were flower buds. That actually makes them sound kinda neat. I wasn't sure if they were plant-based or animal-based or whatever.
For all I knew, they were Martian boogers.
Which perhaps explained my long-term reluctance to try them.
I promise to try them before I turn 50. That gives me quite a few more years to procrastinate and avoid Martians.
Anyway...
Thanks for another Friday 55!
Mine's here. :)
He's just too alliterate to be a criminal. Right? ;)
ReplyDeleteMine is up
One has to be quite literate to alliterate. Literally!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine: All You Need Is...
Great little short. Love the dialogue between the two- very realistic and I could picture it in my head. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNice word play. I like it.
ReplyDeleteYou'll find mine here.
My son hates capers. I like them on a New York style bagel with lox, cream cheese, onion, and tomato.
ReplyDeleteI actually posted this in three places but I'm going to provide the link that's on the multiple author blog. Warning, if you're looking for cheery, this ain't it.
I guess it may be more poetry than prose, so I don't know, maybe I need to be slapped for that or something.
Here's the link.
I've always like illiterates as well but somehow I don't think this qualifies.
ReplyDeleteI never liked Gin.
ReplyDeleteA glass of wine for my pancakes ?
Methinks a dirty martini... bathtub gin and capers, eh?
ReplyDeleteLove That Might Have Been
Well, now wasn't this an educational 55 today?!!!
ReplyDeleteCaper Caper = too too clever :)
I like brandi's description of 55's...totally agree.
Fall into me
I'll watch and laugh at the capering!
ReplyDelete(Don't consume either, nowadays sorry) BUT I love your 55! it lifts my spirits!!!

ReplyDeleteFlash 55 - You Get What You Ask For
Fabulous, fun-filled fiction! ;)
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't played this week, just can't find any inspiration lately. x
Yeah. See.
ReplyDeleteOkay, maybe next week my world will be back in order. Read my last post and it'll explain.
Happy weekend!
"My new shiraz is ready", she cooed, gazing out over her golden vineyards. She watched in delight as her personal vintner poured the burgundy nectar and holding it up to the sunlight, she swirled, then took her first sip.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly, her eyes grew wide in horror.
"This wine is pure SWILL! Off with your head!"
ha ha An old 55 of mine, just for you! Hows it hanging, Gman?
My dad has some of that bathtub gin. He drinks it every night with one ice cube and two olives. Says it's the best medicine around with half the side effects. Even if I'm not playing you know I'm always keeping tabs on you.
ReplyDeleteLadies and Gents,....
ReplyDeleteS. aka. Susie is who bestowed the most gracious honor of hosting the Friday Funfest upon me.
