Retro Wednesday.....

.
.
Yesterday I sent the University of Michigan my season football ticket renewal fee for 2010. The $750.00 didn't show the $10.00 service charge added to the total, PLUS the $125.00 per seat Victor's Club surcharge totaling $250.00 for my 2 seats that had to be sent in last February just for the priviledge of getting your ticket renewal sent to you!!!
WTF?
As you can see by the ticket prices of past games, the cost of enjoying a fun Fall day in Ann Arbor has escalated to Biblical proportions! You can bet that the cost of a premium game such as Ohio State or Michigan State at home will have $60.00 stamped on this years ticket.
The Victor's Club surcharge wasn't added until 4 years ago, when they started construction on the "Sky-Boxes" and prefered seating. So the $12.00 stamped on the 1981 ticket, actually only cost $12.00. Not only that, we used to get to the game very early so that we could find a place to park on the street for free. We now pay $20 Bucks a game to park at our favorite spot. I guess if you are an alumni of U of M, they figure you can afford it eh?
I scrimp and save all year long for the ability to enjoy those few fleeting hours of agony, but more often than not ecstacy, that one can only get by sitting in Ann Arbor Michigan, at the corner of State and Stadium, on a beautiful Saturday Autumn day, in The Big House, rooting for the winningest team in collegiate football history....Go Blue!!
Only 116 more days to kick-off...
Peace...!!!

TMI Tuesday.....

.
.
A Mr. Jack LaLane from St. Augustine Florida asks...
.
"Dear Mr. Knowitall, I've been preaching about a healthy diet ever since I first came to this country way back when with my good buddy Ponce DeLeon. Could you please talk a little bit about some of today's foods that are popular, yet might not actually be food at all?"
.
.
Dear Jack...Of course I can!!
Lets start with McDonald's Chicken McNuggets. The good news is that it does contain chicken. But it's NOT the main ingredient...Not even close! A McNugget is made up of 38 different items, mostly chemicals and corn derivatives. In total exactly 56% corn bi-products! And 0.02% is tertiary butylhydroquinone or TBHQ, commonly known as Butane... LIGHTER FLUID!!
.
How about Cool Whip? Although it's used as a Whipped Cream substitute, it has NO cream and NO milk in it. It's only dairy product is a milk protein called Sodium Caseinate. Instead of milk, it uses a combination of water, corn syrup, coconut oil, and palm kernal oil. They have a much longer shelf life.
.
Red Bull?.....hahahahahaha
It actually only contains about as much caffeine as a cup or two of coffee. It's 'Energy' comes from Taurine, a stimulant MUCH more potent than caffeine!! Today Taurine is artifically produced in labs, but in 1827 when it was first discovered by German scientists, it was a naturally occuring substance in the bile of oxen!
.
Twinkies...? Polysorbate 60 is one of it's many chemical compounds. One of the ingredients of Polysorbate 60 is Ethyline Oxide, a highly flammable substance that can be lethal if taken in large doses. During the Viet Nam War, it was used to make hand grenades!!
.
As milk hardens into cheese, it leaves behind a liquid byproduct called whey. Many cheese makers simply threw it a way...But Not Kraft! With an added food stabilizing agent called Carrageenin (a derivative of Irish moss), the whey can be processed into a soft, spongy, cheesy brick of Heavenly Smoothness called...Velveeta!!!
.
I hope that was what you were talking about Jack...Thanks.
Funny, I now have a hankerin for a grilled cheese.
.
Peace..!!!

Do I Have To?........

Wednesday-Thursday Retro-Portrait....

.

.

As I alluded to yesterday, early Wednesday morning I'll be hittin the road again for a brief respite from the rigors of work. I expect to get a few rounds of golf in, and I just may do a lot of NOTHING!

So this is kinda Two Posts in one...Retro Wednesday Thursday Portrait!

A couple of years back, a life-long friend and fellow Harley rider Ned Kintner, passed on to "The Great Rally". He had a fantastic collection of Harley-Davidson memorabilia, and one of the items was this Pocket Watch with Stand. The watch is a Road King edition, my model of Harley, and Ned's brother Tom very thoughtfully gave it to me. As I open the watch and gaze at it, I realize...HOLY SHIT!!!! Five-Oh Five...On Five/Five!!!

How often does that happen eh? (Once a year Numb-Nuts)

Anyway...I'll Have a Flash Friday 55 posted at the usual time, but the place where I'm going to is so deep in the Holler, that internet access is very iffy. I'll do the best I can, but I'm counting on each of you to visit other contributors, read, enjoy, and comment nicely before BOOKING. I'll be back on Monday the 10th.....l

Carry-On...

.

Peace...!!!
