Retro-Wednesday....

When I first started selling cars at Vic Canever Chevrolet back in the 80's, we had a semi-formal dress code. We didn't have to wear a suit, but we did need at least a sport jacket within arms length. Within a few years I had developed a penchant for 100% silk ties that were a bit off beat yet stylish. The anchor store at our local mall was J.L. Hudson. They sold a line of ties called The Beatle Collection.
I was addicted to collecting as many as I could afford, and here are most of them.

Yellow Submarine
Do You Want To Know A Secret
When I'm 64
Back In The USSR
Good Morning
Birthday
Baby You Can Drive My Car
Ticket To Ride
Hard Days Night

Eventually we adopted a 'Casual' dress code at work with golf or polo shirts, and my ties got exiled to the far recesses of the closet. In all, I probably own about 90 or so silk ties....All waiting patiently to be adorned once again by someone that loves them.

"Will you still feed me? Will you still need me? When I'm 64!!

Peace...!!!

TMI TUESDAY......

A Mr. Mike Hunt from Slippery Hole Wyoming asks...

"Dear Mr. Knowitall, Some words seem to have more than one meaning, why is this? Did we run out of words? And could you please give us a few more examples of words with multiple meanings?"

Dear Mike...You mean ambiguity? Sure I can, hehehehehe...

1.) COFFEE, n. The person upon whom one coughs.
2.) FLABBERGASTED, adj. Appalled by discovering how much weight one has gained.
3.) ABDICATE, v. To give up all hope of ever having a flat stomach.
4.) ESPLANADE, v. To attempt an explanation while drunk.
5.) WILLY-NILLY, adj. Impotent.
6.) NEGLIGENT, adj. Absentmindedly answering the door while wearing a nightgown.
7.) LYMPH, v. To walk with a lisp.
8.) GARGOYLE n. Olive flavored mouthwash.
9.) FLATULENCE n. Emergency vehicle sent to pick someone up who has been run over by a steam-roller.
10.) BALDERDASH n. A rapidly receding hairline.
11.) TESTICLE n. A humorous question on an exam.
12.) POKEMON n. A Rastafarian proctologist.
13.) OYSTER n. A person that sprinkles their conversation with Yiddishisms.
14.) CIRCUMVENT n. An opening in front of boxer shorts worn by Jewish men.
15.) BACTERIA n. The rear of a cafeteria.

I think thats enough information for today, Mr. Knowitall grows weary.
Good question though... Thanks.
Just an observation here Mike, I certainly hope that you do NOT have a job where you are paged very often.!!

Peace...!!!

Oven-Roasted Delight.....

Hi Everybody..
Yesterday I visited the Farmer's Mkt, it's kinda slim pickens this time of year except for baked items, meats, cheeses, spices, eggs, and root veggies.
Thats what I got, Beets and Parsnips.
I had an idea of what I was gonna make for Sunday Dinner today, and it was going to be A Peasant Dinner!
On the bottom of a pan I put celery stalks. I had some cheap rear shank steaks in my freezer, so I thawed them last night and laid them on the celery. I then put some onions, carrots, and the beets in with the beef. I added some garlic, covered the whole thing in foil, and baked it for 2 hours at 325. I then took the pan out of the oven, and added the parsnips to cook for another hour. I've found that it's easy to over-cook parsnips and they turn 'Mushy'. Mushy parsnips are OK if you are going to add them to a pot of mashed potatoes, but I'm NOT doing that here.
About the only root veggie I didn't add was spuds and turnips...Oh Well, another time, another dinner.
I'm so easy to predict aren't I?...hehehehe
Have a Productive and Prosperous Week!!!!

Friday Flash 55......

We all have our dirty little secrets.
You know the ones.
The ones that should NEVER be discussed, OR remembered.
Lying to Mom about breaking her favorite vase.
Not paying for the Snickers at Kroger.
'Accidently' strangling that cat.
Sleeping with your 1st Cousin...TWICE!
...The land-fill where your over-bearing boss lies rotting!

Thanks for all your thoughts during my brief hiatus.
If you or anyone you know has written a Friday Flash 55,
Please come tell The G-Man.
I will visit, read, enjoy, comment, Then BOOK!!!
So from the most gracious host from coast to coast...
Have A Kick Ass Week-End!!!

Retro-Thursday Portrait.......

Hi Everybody...
I'm Baaaaaaaack!!!
Since I've been gone a couple of days, I think I'll give you a Two-Fer!
We didn't get a color TV until 1965, and not very many programs were in color back then. A TV-Guide was a must, and for some odd reason I still have several issues from that year.
I Dream Of Genie, (she couldn't show her bare navel)
Green Acres, (Arnold Ziffle was my Hero)
Peyton Place, (The first night time Soap, it was on Tuesday and Thursday)
I'll just name a few because I don't wanna be here all night, but lets see what was on the tube the night of May 5th of that year, say page.....FIFTY-FIVE?

YAY!!!!... Mr. Ed
Ohhhhh Wilber...
And don't forget what happens on Friday!
Peace...!!!

Friday Flash 55....

This Thursday, a great friend and fantastic supporter of our Friday Flash 55, Doctor John, was laid to rest. For about a year, he and his 'Dragon' Fandango, were nearly ALWAYS the first ones to contribute on my Flash 55 post. They also visited nearly all of the other authors that day with wit, wisdom, and warmth.
And in the spirit of Doc's 55's.....This Groans For YOU!!!

They thought they were discreet.
But the paparazzi were on the prowl!
They had spies stationed EVERYWHERE...Even on the exotic island of Bali.!
The outside open-air shower felt MARVELOUS following their daily swims.
And upon returning home, The London Globe's Headline screamed....
"A Rolling Stone Lathers Kate Moss!!!"

R.I.P. Doc....
