It was always the last one chosen.
Much like yourself as a child when sides were picked for Dodge Ball.
But it did have it's moments!
Like the time it was the first to purchase Park Place, then rolled a Deuce
to secure Boardwalk.
Now after 84 years....Replaced by a Kitty?
(The Scottie Dog is growling.........)
If you or anyone you know has been replaced or has written a Friday Flash 55
Please come tell The G-Man
I will visit, read, enjoy, comment......Then BOOK!
So from the most Monopolized host from coast to coast
Have a Kick Ass Week-End...
Hey, I've always been a cat person instead of a dog person.
ReplyDeleteBut I've also had a tendency to "root for the underdog", so I'm torn!
Thanks for another Friday 55!
Mine's here. :)
OMG, am I first?!
ReplyDeleteThat's a first!
I was never a fan of the iron. Poor little fellow. I much prefer the kitty!
ReplyDeleteMine is HERE.
meow. a bit sad to see the old pieces replaced...i bet the scottie dog def is not happy...smiles.
ReplyDeletemine is up!
G, you are always on top with the social commentary. How sad for the iron to hit the skids after finally making it to the top of the pile. And why a kitty? Where is the hamster?? How about the frog?
ReplyDeletePersonally I always liked the iron because it was a hot item.
'Kay, moving on...I'm playin, with a little something non-morbid for a change--(yes, it's really me)
The Rest
That's a bunch'a'bull! I ALWAYS chose the iron!
ReplyDeleteSign of the freakin' times! THE END IS NIGH!!!
The iron was stupid. The kitty is a big improvement!
ReplyDeleteWait. Replaced by a kitty? When did this happen.
ReplyDeleteMine is up
lol! Oh, yeah, the arguments amongst me and my siblings when picking pieces for Monopoly. Great memories stirred, Galen. :)
ReplyDeleteMy 55: A Gate's Seduction
Agh! Is the Iron gone! The cute little Iron! (I'm actually phobic of irons though I use them constantly.) Subject for a poem.
ReplyDeleteI'm in - and early!
http://manicddaily.wordpress.com/2013/08/29/fall-read-flash-55/
Iron is and was STUPID! I googled the tokens and I so don't remember the wheelbarrow? I love the scottie, love the cat... now we need a horse. :)
ReplyDeleteOld Scyene
I never understood why have an iron, and the kitty is adorable. So why does this make me sad? Nostalgia is a bitch.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I need a happier perspective: A Beautiful Life
the ole iron... was easy to play with... but I am a cat person (even tho I'm allergic to them, lol).
ReplyDeleteReplacing the iron with a cat is one thing, but Park Place and Boardwalk? Whatever happened to Park Lane and Mayfair? ... smiles
ReplyDeleteHere's my 55 for this week:
Lost in Translation.
Getting rid of Scotty was fekkin sacrilege. Getting Rid of the iron is just desecration.
ReplyDeleteHave a bitchin weekend!
I guess everything has to change... As long as they don't make it. Justin Bieber piece!
ReplyDeleteI always picked the iron. Partly, I suppose because of the underdog factor but also because I like the way it felt in my hand. I suppose all things must change.
ReplyDeleteoops I forgot to add my link

Ha, I always LIKED the Scottie Dog. I hated the iron. Quite annoying that a dog is replaced by a cat!!! Woof! Woof!
ReplyDeleteHere is mine. Brian got me over here last week, and I am back again!!!

The death of a poet leaves a hole in the world. This is for Seamus Heaney.

Thank you for the opportunity to share a poem today, G-Man.
Oops, I see I misunderstood. It is the IRON that is replaced by the kitty. Well, that is okay then. Who irons anymore anyway? LOL.
ReplyDeleteWhat a strange replacement! Does the cat sleep on the clothes?
ReplyDeleteHere is my own contribution:

The iron may not be hot, but I'm here to take another shot: My rewrite at dVerse came out in 55 so here it is http://cloudfactor5.wordpress.com/2013/08/30/dverse-meeting-the-bar-give-it-to-me-one-more-time-do-it-over-again/

Invited back, I came. Didn't like getting the iron much in monopoly but didn't like the ship much either. I'd play with the cat or the dog if we ever pulled out that board any more. I didn't see the prompt prior to so here's my latest 55 - the third I've done to Ms. Judith Clay's whimsical artwork- this one I call JOURNALISTS. Thanks G-Man!

ReplyDeleteMine's goofy and romantic and I opt not to share it. But thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhy couldn't they have just added the cat instead of taking away the Scotty dog? I'm all for fair play!
I hope that I'm not too late! Here's my little FF.
