Friday Flash 55.....

It's difficult to imagine the excitement my Great-Great Grandfather MacGlashan
felt when uprooted his family from their home near Edinborough to sail to
the new world, to a new life, to a new adventure. I'd like to thank him for making
that brave choice. Every day I thank God that I live in America.

Yeah I know, a bit of corn pone romanticism, but I mean every word of it.
Happy Birthday America....Land of the FREE!!!
If you or anyone you know has written a Friday Flash 55
Please come tell The G-Man
I will visit, read, enjoy, comment......Then BOOK!!
So from the most Romantic host from coast to coast...
Have a Kick Ass Holiday And/or Week-End!!!!!

  1. thank goodness for the choices of our ancestors...many of them surely not easy...happy 4th g...

    and a 55...

at the trailhead, a hiker takes the left path. The bears deem this good & call it dinner.

later a ranger stumbles upon a dead bear, orders an autopsy, which determines rectal cancer.

a pile of bear shit in the woods rings periodically for a week. None of the animals bother to answer, fearing telemarketers.

  2. What appears to be a WISE choice
Sometimes ends up being a POOR choice
And one never knows when the end is near

  5. MacGlashan!
It's fun imagining the accents our ancestors must have had... just for fun, you should spend the entire weekend speaking in a wonderful Scottish accent.

    Kilt is optional.
    Be sure to post pictures.

    Thanks for another Friday 55!
    Mine's here. :)

  13. You, my friend, have through this 55 made me grateful to be born here too. It was more meaningful than all the 4th of July junk I viewed on TV, and certainly all the noise I heard in my neighborhood. Got to the root of what we should be proud of, why we should care, and why we should be grateful. Thanks, G.

  14. Hey Galen - I am also a child of immigrants and know how you feel. Nothing's perfect!

    I'm in.

    Enjoy the weekend.

I enjoyed Brian too - though I get worried as I have seen five bears here in two weeks. They may be some overlap - I did not wait for introductions.

    Take care! k.

  21. No shit Galen? My grandfather was from Edinborough as well. As the story goes though he didn't uproot his family because he was orphaned very young and ran away from his aunts house at 10 and lived on the streets. At 17 it seems as if the local magistrate gave him a choice Canada or prison...No Stewart is ever going to choose prison.

  22. And America rocks because of people like you :) Hope you had a happy 4th... Feels so strange to NOT participate for a week or two. Already thinking up one for next week.
