My dad, from North Carolina, had tears in his eyes when he found out Andy Griffith died.

I have yet to visit Mt. Airy, NC and it isn't far from me!! I will make that a must this year and do a 55 on it.
ReplyDeleteBeloved
I am off to read last Friday's 55's ... time to relax and enjoy a glass of wine.
Here's 55 for you g...met this couple at the store today...
ReplyDelete'Looking in my future mirror'
Black leather overcoat, over grey hoodie, hood untucked. hanging between his shoulders, purple toboggan with a yarn mohawk down the middle---his round, soft eyes catch mine. His whole face creases in the middle when he smiles, almost folding over.
'He's not as crazy as he looks,' his wife says, grabbing a can of beans.
Man, when you put 'em all together in the same place like this, it comes to seem a little overwhelming. . .
ReplyDeleteNobody gets outta here alive. . .
Aw Son...
ReplyDeleteYou are not even close to being as crazy as you look!!!
There's hope for mankind yet...:-)
So sad and too bad- thanks for the rhyme! Like what you did with your 55er sir-

Yep, it happens every year...people die. Sucks to be mortal.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about stars, too!
Twinkle
ReplyDeleteFriday…yay. 55 remembered pooty little farts from a lifetime of service
No more comments on death from me for the rest of the year. I bought 5 squares on the Detroit death pool so I don't want to jinx myself.
ReplyDeleteWow, G, what a creative and poignant post. I loved this tribute; they were well-loved and will be long-remembered (all of them).
ReplyDelete2012, Lydia Style
Happy New Year to ye!
We lost a lot of stars and amazing talent this year ! sigh !
ReplyDeletecheers to the few upcoming ones :)
sharing a dream today
Much better tribute than those "news" people do. :)
ReplyDeleteMine's up. Have a fun New Year's Eve and wonderful new year!
Great tribute to those we've lost. It always is a sad time to look back at all the talent that has passed on throughout the year. Mine is late, but it's up!
ReplyDeletehttp://razzamadazzle.wordpress.com/2012/12/28/a-new-year/
I still can't believe that J.R. is gone.
ReplyDeleteit's always a strange and sad list to go over at the end of the year....especially this year with 20 children on the list. may next year's list only contain those who have lived a full life.
ReplyDeleteI found Whitney Houston's death very upsetting. I confess I wasn't into her music, but it was hard to ignore that great voice that even the music industry couldn't diminish with so many of the pop silly numbers they gave her to sing. It is just so wrong--what happened to her.
ReplyDeleteGood to meet you and I will try this literary troup. I was doing Haiku Mondays for a while but I got busy with work and my haikus sucked.
I saw a review on the news last night of many that had died during the past year...some of my favorites. Thanks for the memories, G-Man. Here's mine: http://bodhirose.wordpress.com/2012/12/28/english-and-scots-2/
ReplyDeleteOh, and have a Happy New Year! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Donna Summer passed on.
ReplyDeleteGuess we are all in this world but not of it.
Cheery post and comment. :)
Yeah, I'll try to avoid the CF's!!
xoxo from Texas.
Ah - Galen, very sad! A lot of wonderful people both famous and not.
ReplyDeleteSorry to be late - I got up this a.m. in NYC - flew my mom down to Florida, flew back up to NY a bit more upstate, arrived in mountains to NO HEAT! Agh.

This year was a year of major losses.. public figures as well on the personal front.
ReplyDeleteMy 55 is here: http://myrandrspace.blogspot.com/2012/12/fun-friday-fun-of-motherhood.html
Fantastic 55, G-Man. Ima come back next week.
ReplyDeleteI just got a Dave Brubeck cd for Christmas. Ah, yes....Ravi Shankar and his haunting sitar. Remember the Concert For Bangledesh? One of me all time favorite recordings. Happy New Year,G. I promise to be a more faithful player in 2013 (at least for the first 3-4 months!).
ReplyDeleteIt´s so nice that you´re back and all well G-man! :-) I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and all the best wishes for the new year!
