The bearded 'Street Prophet' approached her
quietly. "This Talisman will save your life".
He then slipped the orange crystal into her
hand....And disappeared! She thought, 'What a
Crazy Bastard'. This delayed her crossing the
intersection by about 5 seconds. As the caution
light flashed, she decided to cross anyway....BOOM!
The Semi crushed her......(So much for Talismans)

ReplyDeleteMine is a documentary of my vacay to NYC. It can be found HERE
Ha! By G-Man by way of Alfred Hitchcock? Or maybe even a bit too realistic for him--ironic enough, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm playin--mine's a bit on the serious side, but writers can't be choosers and it's what turned up this time:
Things Endure
...I can see why this "Talisman" is walking the streets! The "prophets" these days just aren't at the top of their game...
ReplyDeleteHere is mine: The Rain Dance
Oh no...I was hoping for a "happily ever after". A very clever write G-man...even with the ending!
ReplyDeleteSounds about like a talisman I'd get!

ReplyDeleteIt seems that death might be a Haunting theme this week...
It just wasn't her day, was it? She could have used a better prophet with a better quality talisman.:)
ReplyDeleteThat wasn't a very good talisman!
ReplyDeletemine is up :-)
http://coalblack.wordpress.com/2011/06/16/pass-that-bottle/

Oh boy! You really can tell them, can't you?
ReplyDeleteI'm slightly confused in my 55 today.

No wonder the guy was giving his talisman away. It was obviously faulty. Wonder what bad things happened to *him*? Maybe Monkey Man could write a prequel!

It is HERE.

ReplyDeleteYup a September post!!
Wow, that's a good one, G-Man.
ReplyDeleteHere's mine (rated R):
Doing It
it was a plot from the prophet. not enough people listened to him about the end of the world coming so he's determined to do it a person at a time.
ReplyDeleteSee, she shoulda listened...
ReplyDeleteI hate it what that happens!
ReplyDeleteHere's 55 words worth of Friday
http://writinginthebachs.blogspot.com/2011/06/dragons.html
Quite a story there, Galen. Mine is doom and gloom as well. Guess I'm feeling that way after my five day hospital stay. At least, I got out last night to see my jazz singer friend who is in town...glorious...and there are two more of her gigs to go!

Poor gal, I tell ya!! She could've just flashed the talisman at the oncoming car! Maybe that'd have done her some good.. Maybe that's what "profit making prophet" had meant anyway... wheww..

ReplyDeleteNever trust a crazy dude with a beard. ;)

Ah crashes. I know about those.
ReplyDeleteMy computer crashed Sunday night. Today it was pronounced DOA.
Good news is that by next Friday I should have a new keyboard to try out for Friday 55. :)
Voila! I have characters. I don't have death or mystics, but it might satisfy the niche you requested. :)
ReplyDeleteNow that she's no longer needing, it, may I have the talisman? It's such a pretty pendant!
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm so late, but I just posted mine here.
Enjoy your weekend!
May be talisman saved her life
ReplyDeleteFrom the life that she had been living ! :-)
Hello. What a weird photo-meme.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is my first visit. I hope this what I'm supposed to do - leaving a comment with the url to the poem I just wrote about this. If not, well, just act normally no one will know...

Wrong talisman, maybe? We all make mistakes...
ReplyDeleteNot much protection there.
ReplyDeleteIf she hadn't stopped to get the damn talisman she might have crossed the street safely.
