    thank you for remembering not to commercialize this memory. Wes asked me if there was something we did special on memorial day and i told him not in my family. we didn't go place flowers or anything, it was just another day. later i learned about our soldiers. i wasn't taught as a child and i told him that is what i thought it was about.
    it is surreal to see things different today. you know the rose colored glasses have come off...

    I never know how to respond to 'Happy Memorial Day' from folks - I know they mean well, but 'happy'?

    Our family lost my nephew this year in Afghanistan. Grateful to be American, yes, proud of Bradley's service, yes... happy, hmmm...
    Ah well.
