I Swoon For Ice Wine.......

Oh Baby...Eiswein is a great dessert wine produced from grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. The sugars and other dissolved solids do not freeze. But the water does, allowing for a more concentrated grape 'must' to be pressed from the frozen grapes, resulting in a powerfully sweet grape concentrate!! With Ice Wines the freezing takes place BEFORE the fermentation process, NOT afterward such as what happens with a fine Sauterne or Trockenbeerenauslese!
(Ahhh Beerenauslese, AND Trockenbeerenauslese are my favorite wines)
People might say That I'm a lilly because I like these sweet wines, but I say drink what you like!!
Only healthy grapes stay on the vine for this process, and harvest may not occur until the following calender year...
Due to the labor-intense and very risky production process, resulting in relatively small amounts of wine. Ice Wines are generally quite expensive..
My very thoughtful daughter Amanda, bought this bottle for her Daddy...
I hope you can see the joy in my face for this Thursday Portrait....
Peace..!!!

  4. What a wonderful thing for her to do. You are looking mighty pleased there. For me I am afraid it would be waisted as I probably would be OK with a boone's farm wine like strawberry hill. I never was a wine person.

  5. How thoughtful of her to think of you. Enjoy it!

  11. Okay, Galen. This shit sounds mighty yummy. I think I may have heard of it before, but I never knew exactly what it was.

If I saw that it was in a bottle like that I would know that it is more of a dessert wine, though.

And I would know that it is very, VERY yummy-licious.

I will have to make an attempt to try some someday.

I'm just lovin' the handlebar-type mustache thing you have goin' on intertwined with the soul patch and your ever-hot spectacles.

    Much love to you, G-lilly.

    Jazzy Parsley Marie,

Try Chambord over vanilla bean ice cream.

    Soooooooo freaking yummy.

    It's an amazing experience.

I actually used to be allowed this treat as a kid.

  14. I've never heard of it either, but it seems like something that would be easily accessible where I live. Everything up here is frozen! ;)

Are you inviting us over for drinks???

  15. mmm vanilla bean ice cream!
    believe it or not,
    i have never cared for
    the taste of alcohol,
    especially not mixed
    with non alcohol stuff
    like people make rum cake
    and stuff like that,
    i just cant go there!
    even the sweet stuff
    i cant drink much of,
tho i am a cheap date.
    (tell your friends.)

    i once made vanilla bean
    whipped cream...
    ooh baby, now THAT
    is some flavour!
the ice cream is even better!

    maybe ice wine popsicles...
its such a gorgeous taste tho...
    picture little frozen grapes
    just crunched into wine...
i dont even know what that means
    but the ice wine processing
    is just fascinating....

  18. I'm such a loser when it comes to wine. I know nothing except that I do like sweet wines so I'm sure this would be most excellent.

  20. HA!!! @ Fu Manchu!!!!

    How about G-Manchu?

    Fu G-chu? (Fuji Chew?)

    Fu Man-G?

    Lisa-Lisa,

    Vanilla Bean whipped cream?

Oh, my GAWD, yes that does indeed sound Heavenly. I think I could rock myself to sleep with a dispenser full of THAT.

Please tell me that despite the alcohol content, you like tiramisu?

It's SO yummy. Seriously. You simply cannot go wrong with Marscapone and Kahlua and chocolate.

Though, I think some recipes use rum.

    I will tell my friends.

And you can come to Chicago and experience many a cheap thrill.

  24. G-man, I´ve been doing some thinking. I think I might switch from HNT (because it kinda feels like I´m done with that) to Thursday Portrait. However I still don´t want to post my face...portraits can be of the rest of my body, right?
