Flash Friday 55.......

His black suit looks great!
Tonight, my 17 year old son is performing with his
high school Symphony Band.
This comfy auditorium, sure beats watching the
Marching Band on a cold drizzly November Friday!
Where have the years flown?
I swear it was just yesterday, that he was playing....
"Hot Cross Buns"!

My daughter no longer plays in the band but she does play the fiddle, she is a bluegrass guru!

  12. Don't have any kids (that I know of lol) so I will have to relate to this as I watch my niece grow. Her big things are dance and ice skating. Both me and my sister tried to get her interested in band but that was not going to happen. Just within the last month I could not believe how much she has grown and changed. She is 12 going on 20.

Other than that I have a lot of good memories of band. One of the earliest songs they played in the school system I came from was American Patrol. A nice simple song with a strong presence for clarinet and snare drums I believe. I must say I kinda liked marking in the fall at the football games and occasional parades but symphonic back was a little easier to take. No worrying about the instrument freezing up on you.

    Great 55 Galen.
